August 21, 1931 - March 14, 2021
Betty Sauls Sheldon, beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 14, 2021. Betty spent her entire life in Marietta. She was a graduate of Marietta High School in the class of 1948 and spent her young adult life working at Fletcher’s Jewelers on the Marietta square. Betty met the love of her life, Bob, at the youth group at First Methodist Church. They spent 66 years together until Bob’s passing late last year. Betty was known as a true southern lady and one of the sweetest people you would ever meet. Her life was one of service to her family and church where she taught the 2-year-old Sunday School class for over 20 years. She also served on the Altar Guild and as the treasurer of the Elizabeth Dosser Circle for many years. A true and cherished friend, she loved to spend time visiting with her friends and volunteering for many roles at her daughter’s schools. Betty was a member of the Cherokee Rose garden club and loved all things pink, including flamingos! Betty’s best legacy is the one of love she shared with Bob in raising their daughters. A true godly woman, her home was always warm and open to all. Betty is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law; Fran and Don Sutton and Shirley and Randy Bryant, grandchildren; Anna Sutton White (Aaron), Ashley Bryant and Lauren Sutton, great-grandchildren; Etta Grace White and Mason Rhett Bryant, and several nieces and nephews. A special thank you to the wonderful staff of With You in Mind Adult Caregiving especially our dear beloved friend, LaWanda Webb Dixon. A memorial service is scheduled for Wednesday, March 17, 2021, at 2:00 PM at Mayes Ward-Dobbins Funeral Home, 180 Church Street, Marietta 30060. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour before the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First United Methodist Church Foundation, 56 Whitlock Ave., Marietta 30064 or 10 Women of Hope, P.O Box 235, Marietta 30061.
