Carol Northcutt Worley Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Carol Northcutt Worley, 90, passed away peacefully following a brief illness on December 2, 2021 in the loving presence of her family at Tranquility at Kennesaw Mountain Hospice. A memorial service will be held at the First United Methodist Church of Marietta at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 7th with Rev. Dr. Julie Boone officiating. A gathering will immediately follow in the Reception Hall. A graveside service for the family will be at 1:00 p.m. at Mt. View Cemetery in Marietta. Carol is survived by her three daughters and their husbands: Melissa Worley Callahan and Tim Callahan, Jeannette Worley Casey and Bill Casey, Marianne (Bootsie) Worley Bentley and Fred Bentley, nine grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren, brother-in-law Dr. Henry Randall, sister-in-law Jane Gregory Worley, and numerous nieces, nephews and their families. Carol was a lifelong resident of Cobb County. Born and raised in Marietta, she was the daughter of Guy Haynes Northcutt, Sr. and Ruth Anderson Northcutt, both from prominent local pioneer families. She was predeceased by her loving husband of 56 years, Daniel Martin Worley, her brother Guy “Buck” Northcutt, Jr. and her parents. Carol graduated with the 1948 class from Marietta High School, attended Wesleyan College and received her BS Degree in Nursing from Emory University. She and Dan married in 1953, and raised their three daughters on the Mossy Rock Road “family compound”. Before and after being a stay-at-home mom, Carol was a practicing nurse. Throughout her life, Carol gave generously of her time and talents to the community. She was in the Cobb-Marietta Junior League, the Cherry Laurel Garden Club, PTA, a dedicated girl scout troop leader and an active supporter of her daughters’ many activities. The Marietta First United Methodist Church was a special part of Carol’s life from childhood. She served there in many ways and was a current member of the Jack Aaron Sunday School Class and the Altar Guild. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Marietta Organ Fund, 56 Whitlock Avenue, Marietta, GA 30064.
