Ellen Cox Deans, 83, passed away on Thursday, November 19, 2020 at Wellstar Tranquility at Kennesaw Mountain. She was born in White Plains, New York on October 29, 1937, to Francis James Cox, Sr. and Imogene (Brundage) Cox. Ellen was the youngest of seven children. She loved her family deeply and was a devoted mother, loving sister, and favorite aunt. She attended beauty school in New York and spent many years as a hairdresser. A woman of many talents, Ellen had a passion for painting and won awards in several art shows. If there was something to be decorated (a bulletin board, a Christmas tree, a blank canvas, etc…) she would turn each thing into a beautiful creation. Ellen invested fully in friendships and if you met her, you loved her. She exuded such warmth and joy that people naturally gravitated to her. Ellen was believer in Jesus Christ and a member of the Church of the Apostles on Northside Drive (Atlanta). She loved her church family. She showed people the love of the Lord wherever she went and touched many hearts.Ellen is survived by and will be sorely missed by her daughters Elaine Deans Crosby (Michael), Marietta, GA and Sharon Deans Murphy (Rick), Marietta, GA. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews whom she adored. Besides her parents, she is predeceased by her husband Donald J. Deans, her five brothers Francis J. Cox, Jr., James A. Cox, Ernest Cox, David R. Cox, and George Cox, and her sister Marian Cox Basso. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, December 1st at 11:00 a.m. at the Church of the Apostles, 3585 Northside Parkway, NW, Atlanta, GA 30327. A Zoom link will be available for out of town guests and any of her friends to attend virtually. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, there will be no reception following. Her remains will be interred with her family in New York at a later date.
