Harry Garnet Smith

January 21, 1932 - November 27, 2021

Harry Garnet "Smitty" Smith was born in Lexington, GA to the late Carl S. Smith and Ruby Thomas Smith. Smitty served in the U.S. Army and was a member of Shiloh Hills Baptist Church for many years. He retired from the Marietta Fire Department in 1987 after more than 34 years of service to the citizens of Marietta. Smitty was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years Frankie M. Smith, his mother and father, his son James W. “Jimmy” Dunbar, Jr., his brother W. C. Smith and sister Elizabeth Cantrell. He is survived by his daughter Ann Mohr (Walt), grandsons Steve Dunbar and Todd Jones, granddaughters Lee Ann Tanks (William) and Shannon Anglin (Archie), great-grandsons Alec and Justin, and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 11:30 A.M. Saturday at Shiloh Hills Baptist Church in Kennesaw with Dr. Vic Bledsoe officiating. Interment will take place at Mountain View Park Cemetery in Marietta. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. Friday at Mayes Ward-Dobbins Funeral Home in Marietta. The family will also receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, Smitty requests donations be made to Shiloh Hills Christian School, 260 Hawkins Store Road NE, Kennesaw, GA 30144.
