Joel Vernon Wigenton

December 26, 1941 - August 28, 2021

Joel Vernon Wigenton, 79, of Acworth, GA passed peacefully at his home on August 28th, 2021. Vernon was born on December 26, 1941 in Marietta, GA. Vernon spent many years as an antiques dealer and Flea Market Vendor. He loved to make one man's junk another man's treasure. Vernon had many adventures while on the hunt for his finds and made many friends along the way. Known as "Vern" to many, will be fondly remembered for his joke telling and goofy sense of humor. You could always find him signing or humming a tune; He had a great love of music. Vernon had a love for crossword and cryptogram puzzles, there was not a puzzle he could not complete. If Vernon was not out looking for treasures, he could be found watching sports; especially his Atlanta Falcons. Vernon was a great man and a good friend to many. He was an even better family man who loved his wife, brother, children, grandchildren and great grandson dearly. Vernon is survived by his beloved wife Hilda Wigenton (Cooper), his daughters Tamara Wigenton, Coty (Todd) Keithline and his late son Joel Wigenton, Jr and his children, his granddaughter Kelsi Corrigan, his great grandson Griffin Suydam. He is also survived by his brother Edward Wigenton, his sisters-in-law's, his nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at graveside on Tuesday, August 31st at 11:00AM at Sandy Plains Baptist Church Cemetery.
