José M. Rodriguez Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Lieutenant Colonel (Retired) José M. Rodriguez, United States Army, 70, passed away peacefully and surrounded by his devoted family on Wednesday, July 14, 2021, in Marietta, Georgia. Born on January 17, 1951, in Cayey, Puerto Rico, he was the son of the late Santi Rodriguez. He survived by his beloved wife of 46 years, Lisette O. Rodriguez; his son Antonio (Karen) Rodriguez, daughter Christina (Brian) Rodriguez-Smith, grandson Jordan Rodriguez, granddaughter Colton Smith; sisters Wanda Dillworth and Debra Rodriguez-Cotto, and brothers Edward Rodriguez and Victor Rodriguez. Lt. Col (R) Rodriguez served honorably in the United States Army, first receiving his commission in 1973 from North Georgia College in Dahlonega, Georgia. José left active duty in 1985 and continued his service in the United States Army Reserves, where he retired in 1996. His most treasured time in the Army will always be as an Armor Officer. In 2012, he retired from Hewlett-Packard, where he ended his civilian career working as a Sales Support Executive. José was an incredible man; generous, loving, strong, courageous, and steadfast in his loyalty, integrity, and faith. He showed an unwavering dedication and commitment to his beloved family and friends. He adored his grandchildren, and one of his greatest joys was spending time with those he loved. José loved soccer, traveling with the Red Sky Renegades, and always prided himself on finding the perfect gift. One of his favorite things was sitting on the porch drinking bourbon with a good friend and sharing endless stories about military life. Most importantly, Jose will always be remembered for the infinite love that he gave to his family. José’s life will be honored and celebrated on August 5, 2021, at Mayes Ward-Dobbins Funeral Home (180 Church Street N.E., Marietta, GA, 30060, 770-428-1511). The family will receive friends at 12:00 p.m. with Mass service starting at 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel. Military burial services will take place at Georgia National Cemetery (2025 Mount Carmel Church Lane, Canton, GA, 30114, 770-479-9300) and will begin at 3:00 p.m.
