Mary Woody McCullough

November 16, 1940 - April 15, 2022

Mary Amelia Woody McCullough, 81, of Hiram, GA passed away Friday, April 15, 2022. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, April 19, 2022, at First Baptist Church of Powder Springs with the Rev. Alan Davis officiating. Mary will be laid to rest at Georgia National Cemetery on Wednesday, April 20, 2022. Mary is survived by her loving husband Tom McCullough of Hiram, GA; daughters, Ivie Shirlen & husband David of Winston-Salem, NC and Lynn Ellis & husband William of Cedartown, GA; son, Bill McCullough & wife Melissa of Dallas, GA; sister, Madge Woody Steiner of Gainesville, GA; grandsons, Stan Ellis of Cedartown, GA & Andy McCullough of Dallas, GA; granddaughters, Suzanne Ellis of Cedartown, GA, and Colleen McCullough of Dallas, GA, and many nephews & nieces. Mary was born Saturday, November 16, 1940, in Atlanta, GA to Rev. William Esco & Mary Lou Ivie Woody, who preceded her in death. She married the love of her life, Thomas McCullough and they had sixty-two wonderful years together. Mary had a close personal relationship with God and she and Tom worshiped at First Baptist Church of Powder Springs for 51 years. Mary had a love of music; she enjoyed singing in the church choir, playing the piano and hand bells, and working with the children’s music groups. Mary was a member of the Achievers Sunday School class and was a member of the Jubalheirs chorus for many years. Mary completed her bachelor’s degree at Southern Technical Institute to pursue her interest in architecture, drafting and design. She was a proud and patriotic military spouse who enjoyed traveling whenever she could and especially enjoyed her trips to the Republic of Georgia. She had a creative and caring soul and loved her family very much. She was a loving wife, mother, aunt, grandmother, and friend. Her caring spirit will be forever missed. A visitation will be held on Monday, April 18, 2022, between the hours of 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM at Mayes Ward-Dobbins Macland Chapel. The family has asked in lieu of flowers that donations be made to the First Baptist Church of Powder Springs at https://www.shelbygiving.com/App/Giving/fbcps.
