October 3, 1932 - March 8, 2022
Patsy Champion, 89, of Marietta, Georgia, entered her Heavenly home on March 8, 2022. Patsy is survived by her daughter, Lisa Johnson of Marietta, her grandson, Paul of Macon, GA, her granddaughter, Anna, of Marietta, GA, and her devoted caregivers. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Bessie Shoemate, her brother, Johnny, her son-in-law, Eddie Johnson, her beloved daughter, Susan Wilson, and her loving husband of 66 years, Thomas. Patsy grew up in Pikeville, Tennessee, and graduated from Bledsoe County High School in 1950. After graduation, she began working for Southern Bell as an operator. Patsy continued to work for Southern Bell in various positions until her retirement in 1991. She then followed her passion for antiques combined with her love of the historic Marietta Square and set up shop for several years. Patsy was a godly wife, extraordinary mom, and adoring nana. She lived her life with strength, honor, and dignity. One of Patsy’s gifts was the true love of others. This was reflected through the giving of her time, the sharing of her life learned wisdom, and the preparation of a home cooked meal. She loved studying the Bible and sharing its’ promises and teachings with others. Being a faithful member of Rose Lane Baptist Church and serving as a teacher of The Ruth Sunday School Class were Patsy’s joys. A public graveside service will be held in honor of her life well lived on Monday, March 14, 2022, at 2:30 pm at Mountain View Park Cemetery, 410 Whitlock Avenue, Marietta, GA. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to The Gideons International at SendThe Word.org. or at P.O. Box 841, Marietta, GA, 30061.
