Philip James Davis, 73, of Powder Springs, GA, passed away on February 23rd, 2022. A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, February 28, 2022, 11:00 AM at Mayes Ward-Dobbins Funeral Home Macland Chapel with Rev. Cindy Blocksidge officiating. Phil is survived by his loving wife of 51 years Doris S. Davis of Powder Springs, Ga.; daughter Jenny Aguilar (Pete) of Capron, IL.; son Allen Davis (Christy) of Katy, TX.; grandchildren, Abby Aguilar, Emmy Aguilar, Jack Davis, Maggie Davis, and Rhett Davis,; sister Marcia Wallace (Bill); and many loving nieces. Coach Davis earned his Bachelor’s in Education at Auburn University and later went on to earn his Master’s and Specialist degrees at Georgia State University. He taught Social Studies for 30 years, 27 of those being at McEachern High School in Cobb County, Georgia. During his time at McEachern High School he coached Track and Cross Country. He was the “voice of the Indians” for over 20 years. Phil loved to travel and was very proud of the fact that he had been to all 50 states and 20 countries. He enjoyed talking to people about traveling and encouraging them to travel as well. Phil also enjoyed college football, The Andy Griffith Show, golf, music of all sorts, and most of all he cherished his friends and adored his grandchildren. His presence will be missed by many.
