Ronald L. Warner Sr.

September 15, 1934 - January 29, 2022

Ronald L. Warner, age 87, of Acworth, GA, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family January 29th, 2022. Ron was born September 15th, 1934 in Cattaraugus, NY. He was the son of the late Asa L. and Marian Manning Warner. He graduated from Cattaraugus Central School and then attended Agricultural and Technical Institute State University of Alfred, New York. In 1954, he entered the US Air Force Aviation Cadet Program, becoming a pilot 18 months and later eventually earning his command pilot wings. His 24 years of military active duty included a tour in Vietnam. He was awarded the Koren Kolligian Jr. Trophy for coping with an emergency situation in flight. His citations and awards included the Distinguished Flying Cross, Meritorious Service Medal, Air Medal with nine oak leaf clusters, and the Joint Service Commendation Medal. In 1975, he graduated Summa Cum Laude from Park College, Parkville, Missouri. He retired as a Lt. Colonel in 1978. After his military retirement, he earned a master’s degree from SUNY Binghamton, Binghamton, NY and then taught at Mohawk Valley Community College, Utica, NY for 15 years. He and his wife moved to Acworth, GA in 2000. Ron was reared in a Christian home, claimed and testified to his belief in Jesus Christ as his Savior. He was an active member of Midway Presbyterian Church until his final illness. Ron always loved aviation and airplanes and loved building and flying radio control model airplanes with the Cobb County Radio Controlled Modeler’s Club. He enjoyed trips in his travel RV and square dancing for many years. Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Jane Carll Warner, 3 children Ronald Lee Warner, Jr. (Patricia) of Dayton, Ohio, Andrew Carll Warner (Lim) of Slavonski Brod, Croatia and Julia Warner Jibilian (William) of Acworth, GA, 4 grandchildren Benjamin Jibilian, Rebecca Warner, Joshua Jibilian, and Alison Jibilian. He has 3 sisters Esther Wilcox, Cattaraugus, NY, Evelyn Hooker, South Dayton, NY, Carol Paddock, Batavia, NY and one brother, James Warner (Linda), Cumming, GA along with many nieces and nephews. A sister, Sylvia Maitland predeceased him. Family will receive friends 1 hour before services. Burial will be on February 14th at 11am in the GA National Cemetery, Canton, GA.
