Samuel B Brody Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Samuel Brody, 77, a 32 year resident of Woodstock, Georgia unexpectedly left his earthly home for his Heavenly one on Wednesday, May 18, 2022. He is survived by his wife Linda, his children Tiffany (Ray) Blackbull of Hosta Butte, N.M and Jeffrey (Courtney) Brody of Johns Creek, GA. He was a loving grandfather to Fallon and Skylar Blackbull and Naomi, Noah, and Eva Brody. Sam was born in the Bronx, New York on July 4, 1944, son to the late Philip H. and Beverly Bell Brody and brother to the late Howard and William Brody. As a youngster, he was a bat boy for the New York Yankees. He attended the High School of Art and Design but completed his education at Northern Valley Regional High School in Bergen, New Jersey. While in school, Sam was an avid baseball player and car enthusiast. Upon graduation, he attended Fairleigh Dickinson University. Sam was drafted in 1964 and began his career with the U.S. Navy. He served honorably and with Distinction on the USS Thomas A. Edison (SSBN610) and later as an Instructor at the Nuclear Prototype in Windsor, CT. While in service, he received numerous Meritorious Commendations and Awards throughout his ten year career. After separating from the Navy, Sam began a 40 year career with Hartford Steam Boiler and AIG Insurance Companies as a Claims Manager. Sam was an active member of the American Legion Post 316 in Woodstock and the Subvets of Groton, CT. He was made a member of the Holland Club which recognizes individuals "Qualified in Submarines" for a minimum of 50 years. Sam was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend who spent his life caring for and entertaining those around him. His generous, loving nature and quick wit are truly missed by all who knew and loved him.
