Thomas Uzzelle "Zelle" Lassiter Jr

Thomas Uzzelle “Zelle” Lassiter, Jr., 87, of Marietta passed away on Friday, May 8, 2020. Due to social gathering a service will be announced at a later time. Zelle was born July 19, 1932 in Snow Hill North Carolina to Thomas Uzzelle Lassiter, Sr. and Thelma Ball Lassiter. He graduated from Moultrie High School then attended Georgia Military School then Georgia Institute of Technology where he was a member of KAPPA SIGMA fraternity. He then went into the Air Force and then returned back to Georgia Tech to graduate in 1957. While at Georgia Tech he met and married Clare Earnest who was a student at the University of Georgia. There were married on October 20, 1956. He then attained is MBA from Georgia State. Zelle was a member of Trout Unlimited and served as Council President, he served on the Vestry of St. Jude’s Episcopal Church in Smyrna in many capacities and was Senior Warden for two consecutive terms. He was a member of the Kiwanis Club at Lost Mountain and was on the Loan Committee of Lockheed Credit Union for many years. Zelle retired from Lockheed at the Assistant to the Vice President of Operations after 37 ½ years of service. He loved to hunt, trout fish, train retrievers where he raised, trained and handled three champions. He also judged retriever trials. He loved to play golf and was a member of Dogwood Golf Club for many years. He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Clare Earnest Lassiter; sons, Thomas U. Lassiter VII of Montrose, CO, Robert Earnest Lassiter of Miami, FL and Christopher Michael Lassiter of Canton, GA; granddaughter, Bayley Ann Lassiter; great grandson, Jaden Lassiter; step grandson, Christopher Wayne Atkins; sister, Mary L. Snitch and brother, Dr. Homer Lassiter. He was also survived by several nieces and nephews.
