Wendell “Scott” Hankins was born January 28, 1959, in San Diego, CA, to Donald Mack Hankins and Marjorie Bullock Hankins. He passed away on March 30, 2020 in Marietta, GA. Scott Hankins was a loving father, devoted husband, and faithful believer in the Lord Jesus Christ. He deeply loved his children Michael, Mary Claire, Caroline and Scarlett. He loved his wife, Ashley, who he celebrated his 20th wedding anniversary with this past August. Scott loved spending time with his family. He spent many hours supporting his kids in the stands for sports, dance and cheer. He loved to travel to the beach and sit in his Tommy Bahama chair and listen to music. He also loved to play golf. He had big plans of getting back on the golf course once they moved to their new house that backed up to the course. Scott loved to travel to the small town of Wichita Falls, Texas and visit his in-laws because he could just relax there. Scott was quiet by nature, he never longed to be the center of attention, but he was funny. He loved to pick on and tease his nieces and nephews. Scott loved to cheer for Georgia Tech and was a big fan of high school and college football. Scott was a very hard worker. He loved to tell people that he had been working since he was 9 years old. Scott began his career at Trust Company Bank in Atlanta, GA, and then changed industries to insurance. He began working for what was The Shaw Agency in Cartersville, GA. He eventually became partner and the name changed to ShawHankins. Scott sold ShawHankins to NFP in April of 2019. Scott was a respected leader in business. He was a champion for his employees and really wanted to see them succeed for their own benefit. Scott had great respect for his employees, colleagues and clients and the feeling was reciprocated. Scott is survived by his wife Ashley Lee Hankins, his son Michael, daughters Mary Claire, Caroline and Scarlett, his mother Marjorie Hankins Norton of Dunwoody, sister Melissa Hankins of Dunwoody, sister Amy Bee of Fayetteville, North Carolina, in- laws Jay Lee of Cartersville, and Marla Lee of Wichita Falls, TX, sister in law Hayley Mirza and husband Ali of Southlake, TX, and nieces and nephews; Dalton, Jessie, Jackson, Sophie and Sarah Kate. Scott is preceded in death by his father, Donald Mack Hankins and his grandparents, McHenry and Jessie Hankins and Raymond and Claudia Bullock. Scott’s faith was in Jesus Christ. While he will be missed, we are comforted knowing that his body is restored and that he is with his Heavenly Father. There will be no service at this time due to Covid-19.
