William McEnroe Thomson

February 8, 1979 - August 10, 2021

WILLIAM MCENROE THOMSON 2/8/79.............8/10/21 WILL THOMSON passed away peacefully in his sleep as his big heart finally gave up. He was a kind and caring person who loved everyone and especially his family and close friends. Will was born in Atlanta, attended schools including Wieuca Road Baptist, Christ the King, Dickerson Middle School, Walton High School, and the University of Alabama. He enjoyed many wonderful experiences in his 42 years including a very successful football career beginning with Jr Football at Chastain Park and ending with a trip to the playoffs in his Sr Year as #73/Offensive Tackle for the Walton Raiders. He was an outstanding and popular camp counselor at YMCA Camp High Harbor for many years and was so well liked by his peers and campers. At The University of Alabama he was an active member of his Fraternity and very popular friend to so many during his years there. One of his fondest memories was the time he spent at Lake Tahoe working and skiing for several years. and, most recently, he loved his trips to Fripp Island where he would come in the "Green Machine" with his longtime good buddy Bryant! He worked on and off at many jobs but after his diagnosis of Schizophrenia, it was very difficult to consistently perform. His last years were spent living in a safe and loving group home in Powder Springs where he was compassionately cared for by many caring professionals who made sure he was safe and healthy. He always enjoyed his visits with his Father, Mother, and other close friends and family whom he loved so much. One of Will's enduring trademarks was how he was so happy and proud of all the successes of his family and friends but never felt sorry for himself in any way! Will is survived by his Mother, Betsy Feick, and her husband, Jay; his Father, Guy Thomson, and his wife, Deb; his Sister Kate Thomson Fender, her Husband, Nick, and their Son, Owen; his Feick StepBrothers Charlie, Ben, and StepSister Beth, and all their families; his grandmother Regina Thomson (100); and many loving Aunts, Uncles, and Cousins. Will loved his music, movies, and of course, football! Will's spirit will live on in all of us in the years to come. He is now peacefully in God's care and will be an angel of mercy and loving care for all of us, and the many more of those who struggle with the illness he so bravely endured. May you rest in eternal peace and may the Lord's blessing shine upon you forever. A private service will be held in Will's honor by his immediate family. Your prayers are welcome! For those who would like to honor Will with a donation or remembrance, you may do so at the Group Home where he lived and was lovingly cared for so many years: PALISADES PERSONAL CARE HOME 4712 MEADOWS ROAD POWDER SPRINGS, GA 30127
