季家凰博士逝世讣告 (Scroll down for English version of the obituary) 休斯敦杰出侨界人士、著名教育家季家凰博士不幸病逝（1950-2022），终年72岁。 季家凰女士于1950年3月31日出生于江苏宝应。 1976年毕业于华中工学院（现名华中科技 大学），毕业后留校任教。1977年与杨家骅先生结婚，生子杨俊。 1979年，季家凰考入华中工学 院研究生，1983年获南京大学计算机硕士学位。1984年以访问学者身份赴美，在马里兰大学计算 机系做研究工作。1986年获计算机科学家叶组尧先生奖学金，进入休斯敦大学攻读计算机博士学 位。1990年毕业后，受聘为德克萨斯州山姆休斯敦州立大学(Sam Houston State University)计算机 系教授，后获得该系终身教授及研究生导师职位，并于2017年荣誉退休。 季家凰女士是中国早期留美学生之一，学成后与丈夫杨家骅(已去世)定居休斯顿。她是大 休斯顿地区杰出侨界名人，各种活动一般都能看到她伉俪忙碌的身影，夫妇二人生前都热心组织 和参加各种公益活动，几十年如一日，得到几乎所有接触过他们的人的高度评价。季家凰女士是 华中科技大学校友会创始会长，也于1999至2000担任中国旅美专家协会会长并兼任过其他多个社 团的顾问，并多次担任大休斯顿重大活动的主席和总协调。她极具才华，在2009年6月人民文学出 版社出版了她的长篇纪实文学《你好，休斯敦》。 季家凰女士 的一生是平凡也伟大的一生。她为人师表，律己宽人，孝敬父母，关爱子女， 热心公益，淡薄名利，品德高尚，为家人、为社区、为他人奉献了自己的一生。她是一位好母亲 ，好妻子，好老师，好朋友， 好榜样。 季家凰女士于2022年8月11日上午8时40分逝世，安息主怀。季家凰女士一家笃信基督，她 的追思礼拜将于亚特兰大时间2022年8月21日下午2点（北京时间22日凌晨2点）于Mayes Ward- Dobbins Funeral Home 举行，地址是 180 Church Street NE, Marietta GA 30060。联系人：刘万春 （770-982-0066） 或吕廷城（770-827-0930）。 由于季家凰女士的亲友大多数在休斯敦，休斯顿30多个社团也将在8月27日于休斯敦举行 追思会，时间为中部时间下午1：30 (北京时间8月28日凌晨2:30)于Katy Christian Community Church 举行，地址是24747 Roesner Road, Katy, TX 77494 。 联系人： 腾牧师（2142890974）。 季家凰女士千古 季家凰家属：儿子：杨俊， 儿媳：倪娜，孙女：杨语牵，杨语瞳 大休斯顿地区主要社团 (华中科技大学校友会暨中国旅美专家协会、中国人活动中心、全美华人协 会、美南江苏总会、华夏中文学校、知青联谊会、华夏学人协会等30多个社团) 友情提示： - 网站当天将有livestream （直播）链接（东部时间2022年8月21日下午1:50左右） - 请不要通过网站订花或礼物。 请与刘万春（770-982-0066）联系 - 据家人要求，追思会上不收帛金。 Dr. Jiahuang Ji, an outstanding educator and community activist in the Chinese Community in Houston, passed away (1950-2022) at the age of 72. Ms. Jiahuang Ji was born on March 31, 1950 in Baoying, Jiangsu. She graduated from Huazhong Institute of Technology (now known as Huazhong University of Science and Technology) in 1976, and she stayed on as Lecturer in the university after graduation. In 1977, she married Mr. Jiahua Yang and had a son, Jun (Dreen) Yang. In 1979, Jiahuang Ji was admitted to the postgraduate program of Huazhong Institute of Technology, and she obtained a master’s degree in computer science from Nanjing University in 1983. In 1984, she went to the United States as a visiting scholar to do research work for the Department of Computer Science, University of Maryland. In 1986, she entered the University of Houston to pursue her doctorate in computer science. After graduating in 1990, she joined Sam Houston State University as an assistant professor, later attaining tenured professorship a well as Graduate Advisor role, retiring in 2017 at the age of 67. Dr. Jiahuang Ji was among one of the earliest batch of mainland Chinese students who came to study in the US. After completing her studies, she settled in Houston with her husband Jiahua Yang (who passed away in March 2022). She was an outstanding member of the Chinese community in the Greater Houston area. She and her husband were involved in numerous community events and were well regarded by all who knew them. Dr. Jiahuang Ji was the founding president of the Huazhong University of Science and Technology Alumni Association. From 1999 to 2000, she also served as the president of the Chinese Association of Professionals of Science and Technology. She also served as board member and consultant for many other community organizations. During the past 30 years, she served as the chairman and general coordinator of major events in Houston numerous times. She was also known as a good writer, publishing in June 2009 her 400-page non-fiction book “Hello, Houston”. Dr. Jiahuang Ji was in many ways an ordinary person who lived an extraordinary life. She was a great educator, mother, wife, teacher, and friend. She exemplified so many great qualities that are worthy of emulation. She was kind and considerate to others, while exhibiting great self-discipline. She was generous to others but sought no acclaim for herself. She was faithful to her friends and showed filial piety to her parents. Since April 2022, Dr. Jiahuang Ji attended ACCCNW (Atlanta Chinese Christian Church Northwest), and in the final month of her life, she received Christ as Lord and Savior (July 30th 2022) and was baptized (August 3rd, 2022). Dr. Jiahuang Ji passed away at 8:40 am on August 11, 2022. Dr. Jiahuang Ji’s memorial service will be held at Mayes Ward-Dobbins Funeral Home at 180 Church Street NE, August 21, 2022 at 2:00 pm Atlanta time (2:00 am Beijing time on the 22nd), Marietta GA 30060.
