Lily Marie Cheatwood

Lily Marie Cheatwood, 11, of Dallas, GA passed away Thursday, June 13, 2019. Lily Cheatwood came into this world as a very special person; a fighter, stubborn and determined. She had to have a heart transplant when she was just ten days old, and from that that day forward, life was a series of challenges and hurtles that Lily faced with the courage of a worrier. She spent a great deal of time with medical staff endearing them, and anyone who spent time with Lily, with her weird, perky sense of humor. Lily became the master of intelligent sarcasm that sometimes was dark, and her dry sense of humor would crack you up and bring you to your knees with laughter; the kind of laughter that would cause your stomach to ache or your bladder to let loose. Lily was very independent and tough. She was very uncomfortable when people would fuss over her. Lily did not want others to be inconvenienced; definitely a people pleaser and an awesome big sister. She was wise beyond her years; born with an old soul. Lily spent a great deal of time observing the world around her with wonder that only sparked her keen mind. To satisfy her need to feed a tremendous intellectual drive, Lily spent hours devouring books and documentaries. She was fascinated with science, particularly the subject of dark matter which she would gladly explain to anyone willing to listen. Her favorite past times were playing computer games, reading and drawing Anime. Lily wanted to be a surgeon, and she also wanted to move to Japan to be an Anime illustrator. Lily taught us how to be in the moment and the joys of dancing at the drop of a hat. She brought love and a type of quirky joy that is unforgettable to all those whose lives she touched; and, on occasion, she would lick doorknobs when no one was looking. Lily is survived by her parents, Timothy and Ashley Cheatwood; two brothers, Gavin Cheatwood and Shamus Cheatwood; and many more family members. A visitation will be held from 4:00pm to 6:00pm on Sunday June 16, 2019 at Mayes Ward-Dobbins Powder Springs chapel.
