Albert (Al) Cain

Albert (Al) Cain of Marietta was called to heaven on November 24, 2015. He was born October 27, 1934, in Gainesville, Georgia, to Anna Clara and Homer Cain and moved to Marietta at age 7 when his father took a job at the Bell Bomber plant. A Funeral Service will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church Sanctuary in Marietta with Dr. Bill Ross officiating. Interment will be privately held at Georgia National Cemetery in Canton. Family will receive friends immediately after the service at the church. Al graduated from Marietta High School in 1952 and joined the Army at age 17. He served proudly in the Army Security Agency during the Korean War. After his discharge, he attended Georgia State College and worked at various jobs, including writing copy for the Atlanta Journal and selling advertising for Life Magazine, before beginning a long and successful career in real estate. In 1950, Al attended the Billy Graham Crusade held at Ponce de Leon Park, then home of the Atlanta Crackers. He gave his life to Christ and was never the same. He was part of the planning committee for the 1994 Atlanta Billy Graham Crusade and had the opportunity to tell Dr. Graham what an impact the evangelist had made on his life. Though Al was successful in his real estate career, as he grew older he considered his true calling was to be a mentor to young men, encouraging them to deepen their walks with Christ. His life goal was to spread the Gospel of Jesus to as many people as possible. Al never met a stranger and was loved and respected by so many. During his real estate career especially, he was rarely seen not wearing a bow tie, his trademark. His sweet, dignified persona and his love of the Lord, life, family, and friends is a legacy to all who loved him. Al is survived by Judy, his wife of 33 years, and his children, Alison and Wiley, his children by his first wife, Margo, who predeceased him. He also is survived by six grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
