Dr. Albury Gardner

Dr. Albury Gardner, 61, of Kennesaw, GA went to be with the Lord on Thursday, September 10, 2015. A Memorial Service will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, September 26th at Mount Paran North Church of God in Marietta, GA. There will be a reception held at the church after the service. Interment will be privately held at Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, GA Albury was born December 28, 1953 in Key West, Florida. He was the son of the late Henry William Gardner and Claudia Lillian (Albury) Gardner. He enjoyed growing up in the tropical southern most point of the United States, and then he graduated high school in 1972 from Sanford Naval Academy in Sanford, Florida. Albury furthered his education with a dual degree in Construction Management and Structural Engineering from Purdue University in 1976 and 1980. While serving as an officer in the U. S. Navy and Naval Reserve for 8 years, Albury earned the rank of Lieutenant Commander. During his last duty station in Port Hueneme, California, he met and married his wife, Denise Joy (Taylor) Gardner of Oxnard, California in 1983. They moved to Kennesaw, GA, and later enjoyed additions to the family with three sons, Jason, Kevin, and Curtis. They were married 32 years. Additionally, he graduated from Life College in 1986 with a Doctor of Chiropractic degree, and many post-doctoral studies. Dr. Gardner had practiced in the Chamblee/Dunwoody area for over 28 years. His philosophy was to treat the whole person by finding the root and cause of stress and pain, not just symptoms. He had a huge heart for others and kept many of his patients and their subsequent generations coming back to him. We believe that God used Albury’s talents, and his educational skills and abilities to help bring health and healing to the many people that he touched. Beside his professional career, Albury was an outdoorsman who enjoyed scuba diving, sailing, rafting, canoeing, kayaking, camping, hiking, fishing, and dutch oven cooking. Many of these activities he shared with his family. He supported the Boy Scouts of America for ten years by taking an active role in leadership with Troop 200 of Marietta, GA. He helped prepare the boys to become responsible, participating citizens guided by the Scout Oath and Law. One of his most memorable scouting moments included leading a crew on a wilderness canoe and camping expedition to the Boundary Waters of Minnesota and Canada, also known as the Northern Tier. He took pride in witnessing all three of his sons attain the rank of Eagle Scout. Albury also enjoyed traveling, photography, square dancing, and round dancing. He was a member of Mount Paran North Church of God in Marietta, GA, and furthered his spiritual growth by attending various bible studies. He helped support the missions ministry, and was grateful that two of his sons were able to experience a short-term mission trip to Hungary and Romania. Albury also had a desire to go on a mission trip, but didn’t get the chance. He was a coach and assistant coach for Bible Quiz, a youth discipleship ministry that trains middle and high school students to make better decisions by learning God's Word. He also attended and helped serve at the Solid Rock of Atlanta church in Atlanta, GA. As many who knew him, he had an insatiable hunger to learn, grow and share whatever he set his heart and mind to do in order to benefit himself and others. He will be greatly missed. He is survived by his wife, Denise Gardner; three sons, Jason Gardner and his wife, Vicky of Marietta, GA, Kevin Gardner, and Curtis Gardner of Kennesaw, GA; two brothers, Dr.Charles Gardner and his wife Kathy of St. Petersburg, FL, Jim Reed and his wife, Dana of Glencoe, MN; cousins, Jann O’Flynn-Sher of Lutz, FL, and Greg O'Flynn of Key West, FL.
