Anthony Vincent Boemio

Anthony "Tony" Vincent Boemio, age 88 of Marietta, GA, passed away peacefully at home on March 11, 2023. He was born September 2, 1934 in the Bronx, NY, to Antoinetta and Antonio Boemio. He was one of seven children, all of whom predeceased him. He is survived by his loving wife Rose of 62 years; son and daughter-in-law Anthony and Kristina of Laurel, MD; daughter Teresa of Canton, GA; daughter and son-in-law Tina and Paul of Marietta; beloved grandchildren Christian, Eric and Emma; nieces Felicia (Bill) Ruggiero and Rosemary (Steve) Granwehr, and nephew John (Lisa) Stella, and their children. Tony attended Manhattan High School of Aviation Trades in New York, where he met Phil Curasi, who became his best friend. Phil brought Tony home one day after school where Tony met Phil's sister, Rose. It was love at first sight and she and Tony began dating. Tony followed in his family’s footsteps and served four years in the United States Navy as Interior Communications Electrician, First Class. He and Rose corresponded throughout his service. Upon discharge in 1957, he relocated to Houston, TX, to live with his brother Pete (who later married Judy). When Tony moved back to New York, he and Rose resumed their courtship and married in January, 1961. Tony worked for Western Electric, Litcom and then Grumman Aerospace Corporation until his retirement. Tony was a lifelong avid gardener, reader, and lover of nature. He was an eloquent speaker and writer, who graced family and friends with his heartfelt and poetic words. And he was a romantic. When asked why he purchased a musical note pendant for his "Ro," he replied, "She's my music." Tony was born into the Catholic faith. In 1981 he became a Bahá’í and formed strong bonds and enduring friendships with many members of the Long Island Bahá’í community. When he and Rose moved to Marietta, Tony became a member of the Bahá’ís of Cobb County North and for many years was an active member of the Bahá’í Faith Center in Marietta. A private family burial will take place at The Georgia National Veterans Cemetery in Canton, Ga. Mayes Ward Dobbins Funeral Home handled the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes memorial donations to the American Cancer Society.
