Audrey Lange

Audrey Campbell Lange passed away on Saturday, June 21, 2008 from complications following open heart surgery. Service will be 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 26, 2008 at St. James Episcopal Church with Rev. Karen Evans and Rev. Raymond Gotko officiating. Burial will be at St. James Cremation Gardens in Marietta. She was born Audrey Campbell in Ontario, Canada on October 21, 1922. Audrey was one of three children born to Gilbert Sadler Campbell and Ellen Thorsen Campbell of Charlottesville, Virginia. A brilliant student, she graduated from Lane High School in Charlottesville, Virginia and began attending Randolph-Macon Women’s College at the age of 15. She graduated college at the age of 19 and began working at NACA in Hampton, Virginia (now NASA). While there, she met and married an aeronautical research scientist, Roy Harrison Lange, at the chapel of the University of Virginia on June 10, 1944. In 1956, they moved to Marietta, Georgia where Roy worked in the Engineering Department at Lockheed-Georgia Corporation. Audrey taught first grade for many years, both at Sedalia Park Elementary School in East Marietta and at Hickory Hills Elementary School in West Marietta. Audrey was an avid gardener, tennis player, water skier and general lover of life. She also loved playing bridge with Roy and their bridge club. She and Roy retired to their lake house at Lake Allatoona where she turned a rocky lot into a beautiful garden. She remained involved in activities with friends, family and her church. Mrs. Lange is survived by her husband, Roy H. Lange, of Woodstock; four children, Bonnie Harris Reynolds of College Station, TX; Judy Hawks of Watkinsville; Roy H. Lange, III of Marietta; Linda Rector of Duluth; a sister, Virginia Woodford of Charlottesville, VA; brother, Dr. Gilbert S. Campbell of Little Rock, Arkansas; seven grandchildren, Tal Harris, Noelle Harris, Portia Hawks, Kara Williamson, Lisa Rector, James Rector and Shannon Lange.
