Carl Jean Chrisope

Carl Jean Chrisope, born March 5, 1926, died peacefully at home on Sunday, June 24, 2012. He was born in Hermitage, Missouri and was transferred to Georgia with a job in the early fifties. He decided to leave the company to ensure that he did not leave Georgia again! Carl graduated from Jefferson City High School, in Jefferson City, Missouri, at the age of 15. He started college at the University of Missouri, but his educational plans were put on hold with WWII. He served briefly in the U.S. Army Air Corps until the war ended and then returned to school, earning a degree in journalism. Carl was recalled into the U.S. Air Force and served in the Korean War. When he returned to his family after the war, he met and later married the girl next door, and they just celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary! Along with raising a family, he took on the challenge of work and school, attending Emory Law School at night, and he received his law degree in 1958. He practiced real estate law for over thirty years in the Atlanta area. Carl is survived by his wife, Dorothy Willcoxon Chrisope, two daughters and sons-in-law, Carla and Bill Brooks, and Karen and Phil Hynninen, all of Marietta. He is also survived by eight grandchildren, Russell (and Katie Prevost) Brooks, Mandy Brooks, Zachary (and Grayson) Brooks, Michele Brooks, Onni (and Grace) Hynninen, Allison (and Bryan) Bebout, Kristen Hynninen, and Andrew Hynninen, as well as two great-grandchildren, Keegan Brooks and Murphy Hynninen. He has two surviving siblings, Irl (and Eileen) Chrisope and Gladys Mabary, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents, Irl R. and Elsie Hartnett Chrisope, a daughter, Michele Ann Chrisope, and brother and sister, Rex Chrisope and Mildred Parker. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, June 28, 2012, at 4 p.m., in the chapel at First Baptist Church of Marietta, with visitation to follow at 5 p.m. Donations may be made to MUST Ministries or to the American Heart Association. He will be interred at the Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, GA.
