Carole Ann Cundiff Dampier

Carole Ann Cundiff Dampier, 80, of Marietta, Georgia passed away peacefully, with her family at her side, April 26, 2025, following a lengthy and brave battle with cancer. She was born in Cape Girardeau, MO, July 17,1944, the daughter of Frank O. Cundiff and Lillian Rose Cundiff, both deceased. Carole had a passion for life, an exceptional relationship with, and love of, family and a strong connection, through her faith, with God. Carole loved to be with her family and friends. Her excitement was not a new car or clothing, it was using her time and resources to share life and adventure with her children, their spouses and her grandchildren. She tirelessly organized travel adventures for her family and gatherings for family and friends. There was never a dull moment when she was involved. Her incredible adventures included national parks, beaches, mountains, canyons and large cities, as well dolphins, helicopters, horses, dog sleds and boats. Family and friend gatherings during holidays and other occasions were joyful, with wonderful food and great fellowship. Carole graduated from Miami Edison HS, Miami, FL. She earned her Bachelor of Education from Florida State University and Masters of Education at the University of Louisiana. Carole was initiated into Kappa Alpha Theta while at FSU. She spent over forty years as a teacher, in public, private and preschool, with most of her time with middle schoolers, whom she loved, while raising three children. Her last tenure was Awtrey Middle School, Cobb County, where she led the Target Program for gifted students and sponsored the school yearbook and Academic Bowl Debate Team. She said her greatest educational thrill was being honored with a retirement party in the gym given by both her current middle school students and former students now in high school. Carole used her talents and education to also teach Sunday School and Bible School at St Paul’s United Methodist Church, Monroe, LA. She organized, sponsored and managed a Cub Scout Pack, also at St Paul’s, and she was puppet education chair and neonatal volunteer at St Francise Hospital for Monroe Junior League. In addition, her passion was caring for and supporting homeless dogs and cats, through foster care and fund raising. She is a member of Macland Community Church, in Powder Springs, and worshiped each Sunday with the Came to Believe Sunday School class. She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Clayton Dampier, her three children: Tracy Dampier Dobson (Bryan), Gilbert, AZ, Michael Dampier (Heather), Dallas, GA, Patricia Dampier Seidel (Ronald), Natick, MA and nine loving and loved grandchildren, Brandon, Anna, Margaret (Dobson), Michael, Evan, Evelyn (Dampier), Abigail, Charlotte, Hannah (Seidel), her brother, James Cundiff (Sandy) of Newnan, GA, her twin brother, Charles Cundiff (Jeanne) of Dunedin, FL. Carole has numerous nephews and nieces who she loved dearly. She was preceded in death by her sister, Patricia Cundiff Mentzer, Denver, CO. A Celebration of Life will be at 2:00 PM on Sunday, May 25, 2025, at Mayes Ward Dobbins Funeral Home Macland Chapel in Powder Springs. Donations may be made in Carole’s memory to Macland Community Church, 3615 Macland Road, Powder Springs, GA 30127, the Atlanta Humane Society, or any charitable organization of your choice.
