Carole Pearson Ocheltree, 93, of Powder Springs passed away peacefully at Wellstar Tranquility at Kennesaw Mountain on Monday, July 7, 2025. Services will be held at Mayes Ward Dobbins Funeral Home in Powder Springs with Kenn Kington officiating. Burial will be at Midway Cemetery. Mrs. Ocheltree was born on December 25, 1931, in Adairsville, GA, and has been living in Powder Springs for the past 79 years. She was the daughter of the late Barney R. and Myrtle Pearson of Calhoun, Georgia. Carole's family moved from Calhoun to Powder Springs when she was 16 years old. She graduated from Acworth High School in 1950. She joined the workforce, going into downtown Atlanta to work in the Flatiron Building where she had her first taste in work life. She was not fond of the commute, and found her way to Lockheed Georgia in 1953, where she met Guy W. Ocheltree, Jr., who became her husband in 1954. When their first child came, she left Lockheed and became a full-time homemaker. Carole was a long-time member of Lost Mountain Baptist Church, where she volunteered as church secretary for many years, and chaired and served on multiple committees. She and Guy also gave freely of their time for mission trips. Along with being a mother of two, Carole was an avid gardener, both vegetable and flowers, and was one of the first to embrace organic gardening with her husband. Being ahead of the curve also meant repurposing and recycling. When Guy retired, he and Carole started a Christmas tree farm business, which they enjoyed for over 20 years. Carole was an excellent seamstress, gourmet cook and cake baker, avid reader, birdwatcher, and enjoyed gardening late into her years. She was known to be the epitome of a southern woman: classy, intelligent, charming, beautiful, and very stylish. Her personality drew you in, and she was funny, honest, and fiercely loyal. She loved her family deeply and they in turn loved her. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and friend to many – greatly loved by all. Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law Greg and Donna and their son Pearson, her daughter and son-in-law Angela and Steve Storey; and her sister Lettie Harrison. Carole leaves a legacy of love and kindness that lives on in the hearts of her family and friends. She will be sorely missed.
