Charles L. Deane

Charles L. Deane (Chuck), 80, most recently of Dallas, GA. passed away Thursday April 23, 2015. His death was determined to be heart related but came as quite a shock to his family and friends. He was born November 23, 1934 in Ashland County, Ohio, the son of Jeptha M. and Dorothy Smith Deane. He graduated from Ashland High School in 1954 and earned his Bachelors of Science Degree in Engineering from The Ohio State University in 1959. Chuck also served in the Ohio Air National Guard and the U.S. Air Force Reserves from 1956 through 1962. Chuck held positions in teaching, middle-level and executive management throughout his professional life, most notably with Myers Pump Co., Ohio Brass and Hill Petroleum, but he was ever the engineer and craftsman up to the day he died. A stout Christian man, he was a member of and served as a deacon for most of the churches wherever he lived: First Presbyterian Church, Wooster, OH, Rowsburg Lutheran Church, Rowsburg, OH, First Baptist Church, Opelousas, LA and Lost Mountain Baptist Church, Powder Springs, GA among others. Chuck “never met a stranger” and gave of himself often, especially with community youth serving as PTA President, Lions Club President, Little League Coach, 4-H Advisor, HOA officer, youth baseball and softball umpire and many other capacities. A loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, Chuck is survived by his wife, Charlene Hostetler Deane (73), who he married in Dalton, OH on September 29, 1963; Three sons, Scott (MaryLou) Deane of Dallas, GA, Steven Deane of Coal City, IL and Todd (Loretta) Deane of Bremerton, WA; 8 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren; Sisters Norma Deane Riedel (Daryl) of New Washington, OH and Donna M. Deane of Barberton, OH. Chuck was preceded in death only by his parents. Two memorial services are planned: The first to be held May 2, 2015 at 4:00 p.m. at Lost Mountain Baptist Church (5436 Old Dallas Rd., Powder Springs, GA 30127; 770-428-5335) with Pastor Rusty Womack officiating; the second service will be held in Ohio with date and location to be determined.
