Charles D. Mobley

Charles Durham Mobley, 73, loving son, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, and lifelong Georgia Bulldog passed away at Kennestone Hospital on Tuesday, January 16, 2018. Charles was born in Marietta, GA on July 13, 1944 to the late Ralph Dean Mobley Sr. and Delia Durham Mobley. He was a strong and loving husband, married to his wife Merrylee Hill Mobley for over 51 years. He is survived by his children Merrianne M. McCall of Madison, NC; Charlene M. Thomas and husband Mark of Buchannan, GA; and Travis Mobley and wife Amanda of Woodstock, GA. He was loved greatly by his 6 grandchildren- Dannelle Dickens- Whittier, NC; Nicolette McCall- Madison, NC; Casey Thomas-Rogers Hoover, AL; Natalie Rood- Loganville, GA; Amanda Thomas Athens, GA; and Michael Mobley-Woodstock, GA. And 3 great grandchildren- Tommy and Lucas Dickens and Carmen Duff. He is also survived by his brother, Ralph Dean Mobley Jr. -Marietta, GA. And many nieces and nephews. Charles was an Alum of the University of Georgia. After college he enjoyed his career in Mortgage and Lending. During that career he helped thousands of people achieve home ownership and refinancing with honesty and integrity. In doing so he spent hours of time on the phone and in person with each client to explain the mortgage process and steer them away from choices that would cost them money or lead them to financial hardship. In his free time he loved watching Georgia Bulldogs Football and driving cars/truck of all types traveling around the country. He could tell you the make and model of any car or truck from the 1930s to the present day just by looking at it! His all time favorites were the 1957 Chevy Bel Air and his much beloved 1997 Blue GMC Sierra. He greatly loved his wife Merrylee and his family. Over the years he did everything possible to help them in any way he could. Whether it was painting houses, repairing cars or providing advice, he was always there. During hard times, while working long hours away from home he made sure he always spent time with his family. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Saint Jude's Children's Hospital. The family will receive friends and family on Saturday, January 20th beginning at 1 PM followed by a 2 PM Memorial service at Mays Ward Dobbins Funeral Home in Marietta. Private burial will take place at a later date.
