In Loving Memory of Mr. Charlie Ray Akery Mr. Charlie Ray Akery, age 88, of Powder Springs, GA, passed away on Tuesday, January 9, 2024. Born in Chambers County, Alabama, on May 5, 1935, he was the beloved son of the late William "Bill" Akery and the late Eddie Huddleston Akery. Charlie was preceded in death by his two brothers, Earl Akery and Mack Akery, and his sister, Louise Pritchett. Charlie embarked on a journey that spanned a lifetime of achievements and contributions. He commenced his career at Lockheed Martin, where he played a role in the production of the C-130 Hercules and the C-5A aircraft. Following his tenure at Lockheed, Charlie ventured into entrepreneurship, establishing successful ventures in the personnel recruitment and florist industries. Alongside his wife, Jean, he grew Brookhaven-Buckhead Flower into one of the largest and most respected flower shops in metropolitan Atlanta. Funeral services to honor the life of Mr. Akery will be held on Thursday, January 11, 2024, at 11:00 AM in the chapel of Mayes Ward Dobbins Powder Springs. Following the service, a private ceremony will be held as Mr. Akery is laid to rest at Georgia Memorial Gardens. Charlie is survived by his devoted wife, Mrs. Jean McClure Akery, and their loving children: Kathy Denney (Ken), Don Akery (Trudy), Terry Akery, and Carl Akery (Amanda). Cherished memories will be forever held in the hearts of his grandchildren: Timothy, Emilee, Daniel, Alison, Errin, Chris, Ryleigh, and Lilleigh. Charlie is also survived by his four living siblings, Carlos Akery, Billie Elliot, Betty Walker, and Gerald Akery, as well as nine great-grandchildren. Many other friends and family members share the grief of his passing. A visitation for Mr. Akery will be held on Wednesday, January 10, 2024, at the Mayes Ward Dobbins Powder Springs Chapel from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. This will be a time for friends and loved ones to come together, offering support and sharing fond memories of a life well-lived. In celebrating the legacy of Mr. Charlie Ray Akery, we remember a man of commitment, kindness, and love. May he rest in eternal peace.
