Dennis H. McDonald, 76, of Kennesaw, GA. passed away unexpectedly in his home on Monday, May 24, 2021. A Funeral Service will be held on Sunday, May 30, 2021 at 3 o’clock, at Mayes Ward-Dobbins Macland Chapel in Powder Springs, with John Cottongim & Terry Moon officiating. Dennis will be laid to rest next to his wife Diane at Kennesaw Memorial Park Cemetery in Marietta, GA with a private family burial on Tuesday, June 1, 2021. Dennis is survived by his three sons; Bryan McDonald(Drenda) of McDonough, GA, Scott McDonald(Sharon) of Navarre, FL, and Jeff McDonald(Ruth) of Adairsville, GA; brother; Wayne McDonald(Janice) of Kennesaw, GA.; seven grandchildren; Kody Baker(Morgan), Kinsley McDonald(fiancé’ Jeremy Mincks), Johnny McDonald, Tommy McDonald, Katie McDonald, Jimmy McDonald, and Taylor McDonald; two great-grandsons, Zayne Baker & Kase Baker; & several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his loving wife Diane McDonald; parents, Horace & Clara McDonald; and brother, James “J.O.” McDonald. Dennis was born on Wednesday, December 20, 1944 to Horace & Clara McDonald in Adairsville, GA. He married the love of his life Diane Nix McDonald, and they were together for 48 wonderful years before she passed in 2018. Dennis worked for 36 years for Bell South as a construction Manager and received a perfect attendance award for never missing a day of work. He proudly served in the Air National Guard retiring after 26 years of service. Dennis was a member of Olive Spring Baptist Church as well as Burnt Hickory Baptist Church for many years. Dennis had a love of sports and spent 20 years coaching youth baseball & football. He was an impressive marksman and held the titles of Georgia State Pistol Champion & Distinguished Rifle Award. Dennis was an example to everyone he met, being a man of his word came natural to him and he taught the importance of that to his 3 sons. He worked hard and provided for his family. His presence will be greatly missed. A visitation will be held on Sunday, May 30, 2021 between the hours of 1:00 – 3:00 PM. In Memory of Dennis, the family has asked that donations be made to the charity of your choice.
