Mrs. Eddie Katherine Crolley

Mrs. Eddie Katherine Crolley, 70, passed away on May 3rd, 2018. A funeral service will be held on Monday, May 7th, 2018 at 11AM at First Presbyterian Church of Marietta with Pastor Joe Brice officiating. Burial will follow immediately at Cheatham Hill Memorial Park. She is survived by her husband of 33 years, Michael Crolley; daughters, Katherine Taylor, and husband, Jesse and their children, Kinsley, Kiley and Barrett; Lauren Sharpe, and husband, David Sharpe and their children, Hayden and Emma Kate; her sister, Betty Roberson and husband, Jim Roberson. Eddie came into this world in Baldwyn, Mississippi on September 1st 1947. Her parents were Katherine and Melvin Welford. Raised in Okolona Mississippi she was a 1965 graduate of Okolona High School where she played the clarinet. She also played piano. Eddie graduated from the University of Southern Mississippi with a degree in elementary education. She was a member of the Pi Beta Phi Sorority. She studied in Hawaii in the summer of 1967 and toured Europe in 1968. She taught first grade in Gulfport, Mississippi for 8 years, where she also practice taught. She taught with a friend named Judy who moved to Atlanta and urged Eddie to follow and she did. She took a job at Russell Elementary in Smyrna Georgia. During these years, she met the love of her life, Michael E. Crolley. They married on June 21st 1985. Eddie was a very gifted teacher who received Teacher of the Year in both Cobb and Paulding County. She also taught at Shelton Elementary in Dallas, Georgia before retiring. She and Mike loved to travel. In 1998, they went to China. The following year, they went to Alaska. In 2000, their Scandinavian cruise included Moscow, Berlin, Paris and London. They have also taken several Caribbean cruises and trips to Hawaii. The family of Mrs. Crolley will receive guests at Mayes Ward-Dobbins in Marietta on Sunday, May 6th from 4PM to 6PM. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to First Presbyterian Church of Marietta where she was a member or to the church she attended as a child, the Okolona Presbyterian Church in Okolona, Mississippi.
