Eddie Varner

Edward Varner, Sr., 72, of Powder Springs, passed away on March 7, 2022. A Funeral Service will be held at 12:00 PM on Friday, March 11, 2022, at Mayes Ward-Dobbins Funeral Home, Macland Chapel. An interment will follow at Macland Cemetery in Powder Springs, GA. Eddie is survived by his loving wife Jane Ellen Varner of Powder Springs, GA.; daughter Whitney Thrower (Trey) of Roswell, GA.; sons Edward Varner, Jr. of Marietta, GA., and Michael Pedro (Laura) of Marietta, GA.; and sister Betty Waldron; grandchildren Cooper & Ella Pedro, and Lauren & Eleanor Thrower. He is preceded in death by his brother Mason Varner. Eddie was raised in the country crossroads of Macland. So many know him from that time and from the many other wonderful times in his life. He was an entrepreneur and a dreamer who held many jobs in his lifetime. He was a cook, a restaurant manager, a restaurant owner and continued his love of cooking for his family throughout his life. When he discovered IT, he learned, taught, and created. He became the Wireless engineer for several companies and was later hired by Aruba Networks as a Guru of Wireless design. He traveled to many parts of the world and the US to repair and install his own wireless designs for stadiums, large venues, and warehouses. He was never one to shrink from a challenge. Eddie loved football and his passion for UGA was rewarded this year with that National Championship. When our grandson Cooper started football, no one was any prouder. He never missed a game until his illness worsened this past year and he still managed to make his way to the stands for a few times. His heart was glad. Eddie was sure of his salvation and loved Christ with all his heart. He placed Christ at the center of his life and lived for the day when he would see His face. He was a member of West Cobb Church and Pastor Stan Coleman was his dearest friend. He loved his family. He loved his children. He loved animals of all kinds and was a great respecter of God's creation.
