Elizabeth "Betsy" A. Tokich

Betsy peacefully passed away on July 29th, 2023. She was 83 when she finally reunited with the love of her life, Phil. Betsy was born in Akron, OH on June 22nd, 1940 to Helen & Derwin Moore. She grew up on the farm & talked about those days quite often with such a bright smile! She had an older brother Duane & thirty-two cousins which meant lots of aunts & uncles. She always spoke fondly of how wonderful having a large family was and how she enjoyed being surrounded by them as she grew up. In her college years she played the clarinet in the marching band & that is where she met her husband Phil. She attended the University of Akron & received both her Bachelor’s & Master’s Degree in Education. She was a first grade teacher for many years & she absolutely LOVED teaching! She married Phil Tokich in 1963 & eight years later they adopted ‘their girls’, Becky & Debbie! They moved from Ohio to South Florida in 1977 where Phil’s Civil Engineering career took them. Betsy stayed at home to raise her girls while Phil worked on bettering the roads & highways in South Fla. She taught Sunday school for several years & did go back to working once the girls were in high school. She adored books and was an avid reader. You’d always find her nose in a book in her spare time. She loved to sew & enjoyed making clothes for both herself & her girls when they were young. She was passionate about writing creative stories & poems and also loved writing about her life growing up and all the special moments and milestones she & her family experienced. But spending time with her family & playing games was her favorite pastime of all! Especially Euchre!!! She was preceded in death by her husband Phil in 2001 & moved from south Fla to Largo to take care of her aging parents. She moved from Largo to Georgia once her parents had passed to be closer to her girls & son in law, Paul. She first moved to Locust Grove, GA in 2007 & then lived just outside of Atlanta the last 2 years to be that much closer to Becky, Deb & Paul. Throughout her life she was not only intelligent & smart, but kind & generous to everyone she met. She was the most loving & caring Mom & always supported everything we did without question or judgement. We miss your giggle, your smile & the big, long hugs that we always shared every time we saw one another. Mom & Dad, until we meet again, thank you for raising us, loving us, believing in us, teaching and instilling in us the values you held so dear! We are who we are today because of you! We’ve lived a beautiful life and our cherished memories will sustain us until we meet again one day! We LOVE you!
