Elizabeth "Liz" Evans Edwards

Elizabeth (Liz) Evans Edwards, 86, of Wesley Woods Newnan (formerly of Kennesaw), passed away August 7, 2019. A Memorial Worship Service will be held at Kennesaw United Methodist Church at 11:00 a.m. on August 10, 2019 with Rev. Diane Parrish officiating. The family will receive visitors shortly prior to, and immediately following the service. Liz was born to Robert Hughes and Beulah Evans August 31, 1932, in Athens, Georgia. Following high school, she completed business school and trained as a beautician. Her experiences in these endeavors provided her growth time and the realization that she wanted a different career path. Her searching led her to Young Harris College with a sense that she wanted to enter some phase of Christian service. There she met and fell in love with William G. (Bill) Edwards, Jr. Their love and devotion carried them for 64 years of marriage. Her Christian service turned out to be spending the rest of her life as wife, mother and coworker in ministry with Bill among numerous United Methodist Churches of the North and South Georgia Conferences. She was a faithful partner in ministry for Jesus Christ along with Bill. While raising a family, Liz worked as a bank teller and church secretary, but she considered her most important job being the mother of three children and managing a healthy family life. Wherever the family moved, she transformed the house provided by the church into a warm and hospitable home. As grandchildren were born, she delighted in them and gladly spent time caregiving whenever the need or opportunity arose. Liz and Bill were blessed with three children: Diane Edwards Shelton (David) of Kennesaw, Georgia; David Edwards (Jody) of Sagle, Idaho; Drew Edwards (Stacey) of Roswell, Georgia. Six grandchildren include Allison Shelton Turney (Justin), Anna Shelton Whitener (Josh), Ryan Edwards, Renee Edwards Fisher (Eric), Rhett Edwards and Erin Edwards. Liz is survived by a sister, Rebecca Evans Stone, and predeceased by a brother, Robert H.
