Elizabeth Cagle Gentry

Elizabeth Cagle Gentry, 84, of Marietta, GA, passed away on Thanksgiving Day, November 25, 2021 at Wellstar Tranquility Hospice with her husband, son and daughter (Jack, Jack Jr. and Susan) by her side. The family had a private graveside service on November 29 at Kennesaw Memorial Park. A Memorial service celebrating her life will be held on May 21 at 1 pm in the Chapel at the First Baptist Church Marietta with Rev. Philip Vestal officiating. The family will welcome visitors at noon in the Chapel Parlor. Born in Talking Rock, GA on June 17, 1937, Elizabeth was the fourth child of Sherman Clinton and Grace Bryan Cagle. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brothers, Naval Commander Sherman Clinton “Clint” Cagle, Jr. and his wife, Hilda Colquitt Cagle, and William “Bill” Howard Cagle and his wife, Helen Withrow Cagle. Elizabeth is survived by her husband, Jack Gentry, Sr., son, Dr. Jack Gentry Jr., his wife, Deborah, and their children Hayley Adamson Stepp and husband Cody, Matthew Gentry, Matt Adamson, and great granddaughter Juniper Stepp, and by her daughter, Susan, her husband, Rev. Jim Walls, and their children Allen and Morghan Walls, and Bryan Walls, and her sister, Mary Lou Cagle, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was a 1956 graduate of Marietta High School and married her high school sweetheart, Jack, on December 28, 1956. She was a very loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Her family was by far her biggest love and greatest pleasure. They are blessed with warm memories of birthday celebrations, annual family vacations to the beach, trips to Disney World, Christmas celebrations and other family gatherings. She was a wonderful home maker and enjoyed decorating and furnishing their home. Elizabeth was strong in her faith and made her devotional studies a priority in her daily life. She consistently shared her love of God and His Son Jesus Christ by sending devotionals, Bible notes and scriptures to her loved ones and friends using her iPad. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Grateful First Fund, c/o First Baptist Church Marietta, 148 Church Street, Marietta, GA 30060.
