Emma Ruth Ausburn

The story of Emma Ruth Ausburn is one of a life well lived, with a dedication to her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and a great love for her family. She was born August 21, 1932 and went home to be with the Lord on January 28, 2023, after a short stay in hospice. She is survived by her son, Marshall Ausburn (Lynda), as well as three granddaughters, Amy Ausburn Blackmon (Michael), Angie Ausburn Smith (Keith), and Stephanie Ausburn McGill (Thomas), eight great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Dick Ausburn and her son, Ronald Ausburn. Born in Alabama, she moved to Atlanta where she soon met the love of her life, Dick Ausburn. Together they raised two boys in Avondale Estates, Georgia, where she was an active member of North Clarendon Baptist Church. Her faith was very important to her and was her great comforter in times of trouble. Athletically active, she was a champion bowler in her early years and won many tournaments. As a senior adult, she began playing tennis and won many ALTA championships, including the USTA State Championship for Georgia. She also loved playing cards, and reading was one of her great passions. She enjoyed the company of her many friends and loved serving and helping those in need. After the death of her husband, she had a desire to be closer to family members, and though it was hard to leave her home, she moved to Cobb County and bravely began a new life there with a new home, new friends and new activities. She became active at Summit Baptist Church in Acworth in her later years, as well. With new friends and new surroundings, she began to travel, enjoying wonderful trips with friends and family and getting on her first airplane in her 70’s. She loved her family deeply and was very involved in the lives of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, counting it a privilege and a blessing to be an active part of their lives. Throughout her life, the faithfulness of God carried her, and in the last days of her life she was able to pronounce a blessing over her great-grandchildren, giving them a gift that they will treasure always. Truly, He who began a good work in her was faithful to complete it.
