Ernest Harold "Pat" Rogers

Ernest Harold "Pat" Rogers, 84, Acworth, Ga passed away on Nov. 30, 2022. Pat was born June 21,1938 in Blairsville, Ga. He attended Union County High School and upon graduation left Blairsville with his cousin and traveled to Spokane, Washington to work on a cross-country pipeline. He learned to weld on that job and that vocation carried him through the rest of his life. For several years after returning to Georgia, he worked for Lockheed where he won the "Buck of the Month" for designing and building the scaffolding used to work on the tail section of the G5A Galaxy airplane. In 1972 he bought Marietta Muffler and expanded that business to include trailer hitch sales and installation. After several years, Pat sold the muffler part of the business and changed the name to Pat Rogers Trailer Hitches. Over the years he expanded the business to include truck accessories and trailer repairs and it has been, for a number of years, one of the largest businesses of its type in the Southeast, celebrating 50 years in business this year. Pat was an avid fisherman, winning several tournaments over the years. He also enjoyed playing golf, watching the Braves, Falcons, his sons and grandchildren play softball, baseball and football. One of the great passions in his life was bluegrass music, both listening to, playing the banjo and guitar and attending festivals all over the southeast. Pat was a member of County Line United Methodist Church and a born-again Christian. He was also a member of the Kennesaw Lodge No. 33 Free & Accepted Masons and was a past member of the Kennesaw Mt. Shrine Club. Pat is survived by his wife, Rebecca Rogers, Acworth, Ga, sons Phillip Rogers, Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, Craig Rogers, Summerville, SC and step-son Mark Tate (Heather), St. Augustine, FL, 8 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters Charlene (Leon) Jones, Sugar Hill, Ga and Charlotte Guest, Marietta, Ga. He was preceded in death by his parents Walter Rogers and Kate Hood Rogers Lunsford as well as a sister. Opal Cash. Services will be held Sunday, Dec. 11 at 2 p.m. in the sanctuary of County Line United Methodist Church, 1183 County Line Rd. NW, Acworth, Ga 30101. Pat's Memorial Service may be viewed live on the church's Facebook page (County Line United Methodist Church (Acworth, Ga). Immediately following the service, the family will receive friends in the church's Family Life Center.
