Frances Flowers

Frances A. Flowers, 68, died July 4, 2016 at home in Powder Springs, GA surrounded by her loving family. She was born on September 17, 1947 in Breese, IL, the daughter of Frank and Alvina (Elling) Pollmann. She married Larry W. Flowers June 10, 1972 in Breese, IL. She is survived by her husband in Powder Springs, GA; and three children, Jessica (Flowers) Kongoda and husband Anderson of Sandy Springs, GA; David Flowers and wife Sarah (Ellingsworth) of Hollywood, FL; Rebecca (Flowers) Walburn and husband John of Powder Springs, GA; six grandchildren; two sisters, Rita (Pollmann) Cox and husband Jim of Carlyle, IL and Dolores “Tootsie” (Pollmann) Weiss and husband Richard of Greenville, IL; a brother, Mike Pollmann of Drakesville, IA; sisters-in-law Cindy Hastings and Jean Flowers; brother-in-law Jim Flowers and many nieces and nephews. Frances graduated from St. Mary-of-the-Woods College in Terre Haute, IN. She taught high school English in Paris and Breese, IL before becoming a full time mom. As a military family, Frances and her family moved from Bedford, IN to Raleigh NC, Fort Sheridan, IL, and St. Charles MO, before finally settling in Powder Springs, GA. Frances was very important to her family, providing them with examples of unconditional love, kindness, gentleness and service to others. She supported her church family by developing a bible class curriculum for two year olds and teaching that class for 20 years. She helped lead her Tuesday morning ladies bible class and participated in a written bible correspondence course where she studied the gospel with prison inmates. Years before that, using the same material, she studied with students all over the world including Papua New Guinea, Sri Lanka, Jamaica, India & many other countries. Her favorite Bible verse is Philippians 4:13, “I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength.” A memorial service will be held at Mayes Ward-Dobbins on Thursday July 7, 2016 at 5:00 P.M with visitations at both 3:30 P.M. and one hour following the memorial service.
