George Lewis Sapp

Mr. George Lewis Sapp, 57, of Kennesaw,GA passed away on May 14th, 2017. A service will be held on Thursday, May 18th, 2017 at Mayes Ward-Dobbins-Macland Chapel at 12:00pm with the Rev. Perry Sapp officiating. Internment will follow immediately after the service at Southern Cremations and Funerals at Cheatham Hill Memorial Park. George Sapp was born in Atlanta, GA on Aug 17, 1959. He resided in GA for most of his life, with the exception of 2 years during his childhood, when he and his family lived in Concord, CA near his maternal grandparents. Mr. Sapp is survived by his wife of 39 years, Cynthia McGuinty Sapp, of Kennesaw, GA; his son and daughter-in-law Jeremy and Taylor Sapp of Canton, GA; his sister, Valerie Sapp Makant (Todd) of Powder Springs, GA; 3 grandchildren, Ansley Sapp of Canton, GA, Drew Sapp and Madison Sapp, both of Wesley Chapel, Florida and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles; step-siblings and in-laws. Mr. Sapp is predeceased by his son, Joshua Glen Sapp; his parents, Charles Levie Sapp, Sr. and Myra Wheeler Sapp Blanton; his brothers Charles (Chuck) Levie Sapp, Jr. and Clifford Douglas (Doug) Sapp, Sr.. Everyone liked George Sapp. Many thought of him as a Gentle Giant. He had a large but quiet and thoughtful presence. He didn’t need to be the center of attention. He had a superb sense of humor and he was able to make people laugh even when they didn’t feel like laughing. He called himself Big Daddy. He enjoyed his family and loved them with all of his heart. His life was devoted to being a good husband, father and grandfather. He enjoyed nature and being outdoors. He hunted and fished; loved watching a good storm and he liked country music. George was a master with his Big Green Egg and loved cooking for others. George had many challenges in his life, but he faced each one with determination, responsibility and courage. He made the best of each challenge. He also had many blessings in his life and he made the best of them by always being thankful for and being aware of those blessings. George never pretended to be anything other than himself. He was unassuming and unpretentious. He laughed at himself rather than laughing at others. He lived life simply, loved people deeply and laughed often. The many people who know him and love him will miss him dearly. The family of Mr. Sapp will receive guests prior to the service from 10:00am to 12:00pm at the funeral home. Mayes Ward-Dobbins-Macland Chapel is in charge of the arrangements. 770-943-1511
