Heather Marie Eggers

Heather Marie Eggers, age 37, passed away on October 23, 2020. She was born on October 31, 1982 in East Ridge, Tennessee. Heather moved to the metro Atlanta area in her early teenage years. Heather loved people and animals. Her love of animals was evident by her contributions to pit bull rescues, and the number of dogs she rescued and cared for. She was an avid reader and could often be found with a book in her hand. But, Saturdays in the Fall were for football, and Heather could always be counted on to cheer on the Georgia Bulldogs and the Tennessee Volunteers. However, if those two teams played each other, she’d be singing “Rocky Top” with every touchdown! Heather had a special gift for fostering loving relationships with her Bonus children and grandchildren, along with her large group of friends. She was strong, independent, and an inspiration to all who knew her. For many years, Heather was employed by The Erosion Company of Woodstock, Georgia. Starting out in a Biller Role, heather grew with the company over the years, and her final position with the company was as Accounts Receivable Manger. She is remembered by her work family as a friend to everyone who became more like family than a co-worker. She took great pleasure in her work, and it showed through her job performance and work relationships. Heather is survived by her Mother, Sandy Byrd; her Grandfather, George Van Etten; her loving Fiance, Kevin Chafin; her Bonus Children, Devin Chafin, Victoria Costner, Billy Chafin, and Ashley Richardson. She is also survived by her Uncle Terry Van Etten; Cousins, Catie Hudson, Jill Canada and Adam Thrasher. She is preceded in death by her Grandmother Marie Van Etten. In Lieu of flowers, please honor Heather with a donation to Friends to the Forlorn Pitbull Resue. Heather strongly believed in their work, and made monthly contributions to the organization. Please join us in Celebrating her life Saturday afternoon November 14, 2020 with Visitation beginning at 3 p.m. followed by a service at 4 p.m. – Mayes Ward-Dobbins Funeral Home, 180 Church Street, Marietta, Georgia.
