Helen E. Burke

Helen Ehemann Burke was born on February 21, 1916 in New York City, New York to Eugene Curt and Amalia Regensburger Ehemann. Helen was an only child who lived in New York until she met the love of her life. Helen married Arthur Raymond Burke on December 27, 1940. They shared a long and full life together blessed with three sons. Helen is survived by her three sons, Richard Taylor, Jon Robert & Betsy and James (Jim) Allen & Maggie Burke. The three sons are the beginning of Helen’s legacy that includes 12 grandchildren, Taylor Burke, Jr., Eric Burke, Ryan Burke, Matthew Burke, Lauren Hudgins, Jennifer Williams, Melissa George, Caroline West, Andrew West, Brendan Burke, Shannon Burke, and Ian Burke; as well as, 12 great grandchildren, Bianca Burke, Nicholas Williams, Ava Burke, Bowen Burke, Remington Burke, Charlotte Williams, Timothy George, Daniel George, Ellie Hudgins, Reagan Hudgins, Gia Burke and Hudson Burke who all loved her dearly. Helen was a strong and independent woman who passed with the same dignity and grace with which she lived her life. Helen was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Raymond Burke and a daughter Kathleen Taylor Burke. Helen Burke started her career at CBS in New York as an administrative assistant in 1935. Later on, she worked for Marietta Office Sales and Service until her retirement. Both Arthur and Helen were quite involved in community affairs, First United Methodist Church, and various committees for “The Oaks”. Miss Helen was loved by everyone around her and made a lasting impression. Her guidance, adoration for the arts, her love of reading, and her generous support for family and friends, will never be forgotten. The family of Helen Burke would like to thank those special people who assisted and cared for her in her final days. Thank you Gloria for taking such tender care of Helen and spending the days “goofing off,” thank you Cynthia for allowing her to rest easier at night, and thank you Sherrie for making her comfortable in the end.
