Helen Estock Hewitt Miron

Helenka “Helen” Hewitt Miron, 93 of Marietta, Ga. died June 28, 2023. A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, July 6th at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 87 Lacy Street Marietta, Ga. 30060. The interment will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery, 950 Mansell Road Roswell, Ga. Ms. Miron was predeceased by her husband, Bernard Miron in 2001 and her son, Joseph Allen Hewitt in 2009. She is survived by her three children, Robert Leon Hewitt (Pame) of Smyrna, Ga.; Denise Hewitt Bearden of Marietta, Ga. and Julie Hewitt Purdy of Cumming, Ga.; two stepchildren, Edward Miron (Cyndy) of Fort Collins, Co. and Janet Miron Kelley (Danny) of Hilton Head Island, S.C.; eight grandchildren, Carson Joseph Kiefer of Canton, Ga., Amelia Mary Bearden of Marietta, Ga., Ellie Purdy of Cumming, Ga., Christopher Purdy of Cumming, Ga., Ben Miron of Dallas, Tx., Rachel Miron Fields of Gilbert, Az., Heather Taylor of Wilmington, N.C. and Evan Kelley of Woodstock, Ga. Helen was born in Kipling, Ohio in 1929 to the parents of George Estock and Mary Ragan Estock whom both immigrated from Slovakia. Helen was bilingual and fluent in both Slovakian and English. She attended primary through high school in Kipling, Ohio. She attained her four-year college degree in nursing from Saint Elizabeth’s Medical School in Dayton, Ohio. She moved to Georgia in the late 1950’s. She was an avid reader, especially historical novels, art history and philosophical and religious context. She was a longtime volunteer at the Marietta / Cobb Museum of Art and loved studying the great artist of the world and travelled in her retirement years to many countries to experience the great art museums. She volunteered extensively at many local nursing homes and meals on wheels providing comfort to the elderly. Her greatest joy in life were her grandchildren. She loved being a grandmother, affectionately known as Mema. She was a calming, loving, joyous person always willing to offer support, an ear and words of kindness. She loved gardening, always in her yard. She adored her rescued cat “Randolph” and all cats. She loved bird watching on her back porch. She loved the family and hosting the family holidays. She was a lifelong devout Catholic and volunteer at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. She truly was a good, kindhearted, and loving mother and grandmother that will be sorely missed.
