James Joseph Fox

James Joseph Fox went to be with his Lord on June 17, 2020, in his home surrounded by his family, after a long battle with Parkinson’s disease. Born in Queens, New York on September 6, 1938, Jim resided in Jamaica, Queens as a youth and raised his family in Levittown and Hauppauge, New York and Marietta, Georgia, where he has resided since 1988. Jim met his beautiful wife Mildred (Micki) in New York and they were happily married for 54 years. Jim served his country in the United States Army and then as a civil servant for the New York City Department of Sanitation, including as an elected union officer. Jim was later employed by Cobb Transit and Cobb County Schools. Jim was a loving husband and father, always making family his highest priority in life. He was a dedicated coach of his children’s sports teams in their youth and the number one fan of his grandkids’ many teams and activities over the years. Always a New Yorker at heart, Jim loved his pizza on Fridays, bagels after church Sundays, and dancing "the Lindy" with Micki. Jim had a deep faith in Jesus Christ and was committed to his beloved church family, Grace Community Church, in Marietta. Jim is survived by his loving wife, their four children, Laura (David) Marcontell, James Fox, Brian (Katherine) Fox, and Diana (Jon) Schock, all residing in the Atlanta area, his sister, Susan (Bob) Franklin, of Brandenton, FL, brother, Walter Strockbine, of Ft Walton Beach FL, step-sister Barbara DiPalma, of Bradenton FL, brothers-in-law Albert (Mary) Billotti, of Deer Park, NY, and Robert Billotti, of Tamarac, FL, eleven amazing grandchildren (Joseph, Alexa, Hannah, Jake, Daniel, Sarah, Maiella, Abigail, Olivia, Lydia, and Luke), many beloved nieces and nephews, and many cousins, including Kevin (Susan) Moran, of New Hyde Park, NY, who was like a brother to Jim. He is pre-deceased by his mother, Linda Strockbine, his father, George Fox, his step-father, Walter Strockbine, his sisters, Mary Martin and Betty McNamara, his step-brother, Ronnie Strockbine, and his parents-in-law, Albert and Mary Billotti, whom he took into his home and cared for for many years. A graveside service will be held on 6/26 at the Georgia National Cemetery for immediate family only, followed by a memorial service for friends and extended family at a future date.
