Jerry L. Ciulla

Jerry L. Ciulla, 54, of Austell left this earthly world April 12 to be with our Lord after a long brave fight with renal disease. Jerry was born in Lincoln, Nebraska, October 27, 1961. He later moved to Las Vegas, Nevada, where he spent the majority of his childhood. Jerry was a rambunctious child and teenager. He enjoyed life from a very young age, sometimes to the chagrin of his parents and teachers. After graduation, he joined the United States Army. While in the Army, Jerry became a certified medic and pharmacy technician. He was also a sharp shooter and attended Ranger school. Jerry excelled in many areas while he was in the service. He loved the travelling aspect of the service and particularly enjoyed his time in Korea. When Jerry returned to the United States, he was stationed in Georgia where he remained until his death. Jerry retired from the Army after he had detached retinas and received a medical discharge and retirement. He was proud of his service to his country until the very end of his life. Jerry loved music, movies and politics. He was very knowledgeable about these and many subjects. He loved a good heated discussion and to tease people that he loved. Jerry had a razor sharp wit that anyone who knew him loved most about him. He dealt with his illness with his wit, making those around him laugh to ease their discomfort. Jerry’s biggest joy in life was his children, grandchildren, family and friends. The days his children were born were the greatest of his life. Jeremy and Shelby he felt were the greatest achievement of his life. There was never a prouder father of his children. Their achievements were his achievements. He never missed an opportunity to tell everyone about what they were doing and how wonderful they were. Becoming a grandfather was his biggest joy, and something he didn’t think he would get to enjoy due to his illness. Being poppy to Nicole and Aiden will be his greatest legacy. He loved them with everything he had. He will be their personal angel as they grow up. Jerry loved his family and friends deeply and completely. He will be missed by all that had the honor of knowing him. Jerry is survived by his children, Jeremy Ciulla and his wife, Jessica of Kennesaw, Shelby Marie Ciulla of Kennesaw; his grandchildren, Aiden Connor Ciulla and Nicole Ansley Ciulla both of Kennesaw; sister, Deanna Cuilla-Inciso of Las Vegas, Nevada; brother, Harri Grintals of Anaheim, California; his best friends, Julie McClain of Marietta and Dawn Marie Lee of Acworth. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Jerry was preceded in death by both of his parents, Sam and Inga Ciulla. The family will be receiving friends at Mayes Ward-Dobbins Funeral Home in Marietta on Tuesday from 10AM – 11AM followed by service in the Chapel at 11AM. Interment will follow at 1:30PM at the Georgia National Cemetery in Canton. The family will also be receiving guests at the home of Sam and Lisa Hill in Acworth, Georgia following the service and interment.
