Jerry Lee Jacobs Sr.

Jerry L. Jacobs Sr. was born on February 6, 1955 to the proud parents of Broadis Jacobs and Nanies Jacobs in New York, NY he was their only child together, he had an older half-brother Sterling Jacobs. Jerry received his early education in the public school system of New York City, he received his GED from Benjamin Franklin HS in 1973, and he received his Associate degree in Accounting from the Borough of Manhattan Community College. He was quickly hired as a Junior Accountant at Saks Fifth Avenue. After working several years as an accountant with the company he left in 1981 to begin his career with the New York City Police Department. He was soon promoted to Sargent in the NYPD. He received his bachelor degree in Criminology from John Jay College in 1988 and his Master Degree in Criminal Justice from Long Island University in 1990 and was promoted to Lieutenant Officer for the NYPD. He retired from the NYPD after 20 years of service and relocated to Smyrna, Ga in 2001. Jerry Jacobs was united in marriage with Ronda Joseph in 1986 and remarried in 2009 to Joyce Harris. He enjoyed his retirement golfing, fishing, boating and entertaining many of his friends and family during his Backyard Barbeque. Jerry and his wife Joyce enjoyed traveling together, concerts and “date nights” every Friday. On January 12, 2018 he lost his battle with kidney and liver disease. His family cherishes the great husband, father, grandfather, cousin, friend he was to everyone. He loved entertaining his family and friends with stories about his time as a Police Officer. He was working on publishing a novel based on his experience in Law Enforcement before his untimely death. He leaves to cherish his life a loving wife, Joyce Jacobs, Smyrna GA, 2 daughters Monique S. Nerestan, Orangeburg, SC Kristen Galloway Atlanta, GA and son Jerry Jacobs Jr, Austell ,GA 4 stepchildren LaShawnna Rennie, Shanel Harris ,Darryn McMillian and Ramone McMillian. 7 grandchildren Portia Neat, Isaiah McMillian, Asali Valentine, Jordan Bailey, Joseph Jacobs, Selena Jefferson and Jakari Bailey His father in law Leroy Lewis and his mother in law Texie Lewis and a host of family and friends. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in memory of Jerry L. Jacobs, Sr. to the American Kidney Association.
