Jerry Kosinski

Jerome (Jerry) Kosinski, 85, of Marietta, died Tuesday, August 12, 2008. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, August 16, 2008 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, with Rev. John Walsh officiating. Interment will be in St. Joseph’s Cremation Garden. Mr. Kosinski was born September 12, 1922, and lived his early life in Whiting, Indiana. He received a B.S. in Chemistry from St. Joseph’s College in Rencellier, Indiana; and was a Research Chemist for Sinclair Oil for 20 years. During that time, he received a Master’s Degree in Accounting from The University of Chicago. Later, he became a Telecommunications Executive for the Atlantic Richfield Oil Company. He and his late wife of 60 years, Phyllis, lived in many U.S. cities on the east coast and in Iowa. Their later years were much enjoyed in Los Angeles, California; but they chose Palm Harbor, Florida for their retirement home. After living in Florida for 17 years, he and Phyllis moved to Marietta in 2001. He enjoyed residing at Winnwood Retirement Community and Arbor Terrace of Austell. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edmund and Hattie Kosinski; his only brother, Frank Kosinski; and sister, Elizabeth MacVicar. He was a faithful, practicing Catholic, and a member of St. Joseph’s parish in Marietta. He leaves to mourn his passing two daughters, Hedwig O’Brien and her husband, Dennis, of Marietta; and Martha Moreland and her husband, Mike, of Sioux City, Iowa; four grandchildren, Phoebe O’Brien, of Tampa, Florida; Daniel O’Brien, of Marietta; Jacob Moreland and his wife, Ilisia; and Andrew Moreland, all of Sioux City, Iowa; two nieces, Kathy Simon, of San Juan Capistrano, California; and Phyllis Geinzer, of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; and a host of friends from his home at Arbor Terrace. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Jerry’s name to The Honduras Ministry at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 87 Lacy Street, Marietta, GA 30064. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday, August 15, 2008 at Mayes Ward-Dobbins Funeral Home and Crematory.
