Jerry Seabaugh

Jerry Seabaugh, 69, of Marietta, Georgia passed away on February 9, 2009. He is preceded in death by his father Tivis Seabaugh, mother Helen Cook Seabaugh, brother Paul Seabaugh and sisters Dorothy Todus and Marie Seabaugh. Survivors include his wife, Jeanette Henderson Seabaugh of Marietta, GA; his brother and sister in law Van and Glenda Seabaugh of Fairfax, Virginia; sister in law Joyce Seabaugh of Arizona; son and daughter in law Devan and Beth Camp Seabaugh of Marietta, Georgia; son and daughter in law Gregory and Melissa Mercer Seabaugh of Jacksonville, Florida; daughter and son-in law, Mardra and Leslie Thompson of Pascagoula, Mississippi; and grandchildren Hannah Thompson, Heidi Seabaugh, Abigail Seabaugh, Zachary Seabaugh, Olivia Seabaugh, Sophia Seabaugh, John-Mercer Seabaugh, Jackson Seabaugh and a number of nieces, nephews and friends. Jerry was born in Keiser, Arkansas, July 28, 1939, to Tivis and Helen Cook Seabaugh. He graduated from East Aurora High School in Aurora, Illinois and then the University of Illinois where he was a member of the Air Force ROTC. He graduated from the University with a Bachelors degree in Aerospace Engineering and entered the U.S Air Force as a commissioned officer. He served our country honorably as a first Lieutenant in the U.S. Air Force as an Aircraft Maintenance Officer at Hancock Field in Syracuse, NY before being honorably discharged in 1963. He worked as an engineer at Eastern Airlines in Miami, Florida before accepting a position in 1964 with the Lockheed Georgia Company in Marietta where he worked as an Engineer on the C-5A, C-141, and C-130 projects. After 34 years, he retired from Lockheed Martin Marietta as a Chief Inspector of Quality Assurance on the C130J and F22 Raptor projects. Jerry loved fast cars, owning several Corvettes, Firebirds, a Grand Prix and a Porsche among his collection. Since retiring in June 1999, he enjoyed playing tennis, traveling and spending time with Jeanette, his wife of 47 years along with his kids and eight grandchildren. The family will receive friends 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm, Wednesday, February 11, 2009 at Mayes-Ward Funeral Home in Marietta. The funeral service will be held at 2:30 pm Thursday at the First United Methodist Church in Marietta with Rev. Dr. Sam Matthews and Rev. Ken Cross officiating. Interment with military honors will be at the Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, Georgia. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to MUST Ministries, 55 Elizabeth Church Rd.
