Jesse Delano Hilderbrand, Jr.

Jesse Delano Hilderbrand, Jr. “Bill” (89) of Cedartown, Georgia and former Cobb County native passed away on October 8, 2015. Bill was born in Kennesaw, Georgia on December 7, 1925 son of the late Jesse Delano Hilderbrand, former Mayor of Kennesaw and Annie Lou Worley. He attended Kennesaw Schools and the Berry School. After graduation, he served in the US Army in WWII and assigned to a tank battalion in Europe and fought in the Battle of Bulge. He returned to Marietta and graduated from Southern Poly Technical Institute in Engineering. He worked at Lockheed Martin for 36 years until retirement and served as an engineer on various programs including the flight test for the C-5 program in Palmdale, California, and C-130 programs in Marietta, Georgia. Bill was an avid golfer and participated in tournaments with the Lockheed Employees Association and retired to Meadow Lakes Golf Club in Cedartown, Georgia. He was recently recognized as a Master Mason for over 60 years of service by Grand Lodge of Masons of Georgia, Kennesaw Lodge No. 33. Bill is survived by his wife of 27 years, Erika Kies Hilderbrand of Cedartown, son Ken Hilderbrand and daughter in law Patti of Marietta, Ga; granddaughter Katie Hammett and husband Jason and great grandson Hudson Hammett; granddaughter Kelli Moore and husband Jonathan Moore of Marietta, Ga. Also surviving are nieces, Marilyn Hughes of Panama City Beach, Fl. Karen Sue Perry of Raleigh, NC, and nephew, Stan Taylor, Acworth, Ga, and sister in law Nadine Hilderbrand, Freeport, Fl. He was predeceased in death by his parents, brothers, John Aaron Hilderbrand, Robert Hilderbrand, and sister Kathryn Taylor. He was a member of the Kennesaw United Methodist Church, Kennesaw, Ga. The family will receive friends from 1pm to 2pm prior to the Memorial Service at 2PM to be held Monday October 12 at Mayes Ward Funeral Home in Marietta, Ga with Dr. Bill Ross, pastor First Baptist Church Marietta officiating and the Georgia Masons. Interment will follow the service at the Hilderbrand Family Plot in the Kennesaw City Cemetery.
