John Wilson "JW" Cash Jr.

John Wilson (J.W.) Cash Jr. was born on September 21, 1941 to John Wilson Cash Sr. and Willie Virginia Poage. He grew up in East Point, GA and graduated from Russell High School. He was married to the love of his life, Amy Lorene Garrison for 50 years before she passed away in 2013. He was also predeceased by his sister Virginia Cash (Kimbell) Faulkner and youngest son, Jesse Garrison Cash. He is survived by his son John Wilson (Will) Cash III (Sandy) of Dallas, GA and grandsons Bailey Wilson Cash of Atlanta, GA and Andrew Allen Cash of Dallas, GA and his daughter Lorene Cash Wilson (David) of Kansas City, MO. His nieces are Marie Kimbell Black (Allan) of Marietta, GA; Brenda Kimbell Lankford (Richie) of McDonough, GA; and Jessica Faulkner Kinard of Santa Rosa Beach, FL. Family was extremely important to him and was a dearly loved brother, uncle, husband, father and grandfather. John became a Christ follower early in his life and was raised in Jefferson Avenue Baptist Church in East Point. He built a strong foundation of faith for his family and friends. John earned a Master of Education degree from Mercer University in Macon, GA. He taught History and Geography for 20 years at Russell High School in East Point, GA and M. D. Collins High School in College Park, GA. He influenced the lives of thousands of students and was well loved by everyone that knew him. He really never met a stranger and loved to make people laugh. He could recount details and tell humorous and interesting stories with amazing accuracy. He loved to teach history but also worked extensively on the Cash family history and genealogy. He also enjoyed playing and coaching tennis, tending large vegetable gardens and singing in a local Community Chorus. The Cash family will receive friends and family at Mayes Ward Dobbins Funeral Home (Macland Chapel) in Powder Springs on Saturday, January 8, from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm. A service to celebrate his life will start at 2:00 pm. The service will be officiated by Rev. Ray Kuykendall, pastor of Mount Olive Baptist Church in East Point. Interment will be at Westview Cemetery immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Parkinson’s Foundation, www.parkinsonsfoundation.org
