Joshua David Griffin

Joshua David Griffin, 46, passed away Friday, October 7, 2022, at his home in South Carolina. A service will be held in his honor on Saturday, October 15, 2022, at 2:00 PM at Mayes Ward-Dobbins Powder Springs Chapel. Josh is survived by his mother, Katrina Cotney; stepfather, Donald Cotney; son, Mason Griffin; son, Carson Griffin; son, Truen Griffin; sister, Holly Griffin Billingsley and husband Chad Billingsley; brother, Chance Griffin; brother, Cody Griffin and wife Amber Griffin. He is preceded in death by his father, David Eugene Griffin. Joshua David Griffin was born Sunday, December 13, 1975, in Columbus, Georgia. Josh grew up in Powder Springs, Georgia where he attended McEachern High School, Class of 1994. He was a proud member of the McEachern Indians Football Team. Josh spent his teenage years living with his mother, Katrina, and stepfather, Don. Josh was especially proud of the special bond that he and Don would build with each other over the course of his life. Josh married Amy Chaires in 2001. Josh and Amy greeted their first son, Mason, in 2004. They were blessed with their second son, Carson, in 2008. Josh eventually met his “soulmate”, Kelly Gagnon, currently of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, and they welcomed their son, Truen, in 2014. Josh instantly accepted Kelly’s three children, Gaige, Alex and Gabrielle, as his own. Josh and Kelly were planning and designing their future home together. They broke ground on their home earlier this year in Mount Pleasant. Josh enjoyed spending time on the road riding his Harley. His interests included music, movies, stand-up comedy, history, cars, cigars, firearms and so much more. Josh, along with his father and brothers, was an avid golfer. Josh used his love for the sport to pass on the lessons learned through golf to his children. He, Mason, Carson and Truen created many memories on the course and practice areas. Josh was also a proud coach for Truen’s soccer team. Josh was much like his late father in that he could easily light up a room with his smile. Funny, intelligent, confident, and genuine, Josh was naturally befriended by so many. He was a constant, reliable source of advice and encouragement for those around him. After the loss of his father in 2008, Josh became the leader of the Griffin “clan” and took great pride in watching over his brothers and sister. One cannot describe Josh without mentioning his sister, Holly. Josh and Holly were very close while growing up, and this closeness never faded. Josh’s love and admiration for the woman, wife and mother Holly had become was ever apparent to anyone who knew him. Josh spent most of his adult life working in the electrical field. He eventually became part owner of AED, Atlanta Electrical Distributors, where he had been employed for over a decade. Josh was a proud member of the Dacula Masonic Lodge #433. He spent many years building his knowledge, eventually becoming a Master Mason and appending off to Scottish Rite. The shock of Josh’s passing will certainly resonate throughout his many friends and acquaintances. He loved emphatically. He believed with conviction. Josh was the definition of a family man. And this family will surely miss his presence.
