Karin Maltenieks WerBell

Karin Anne WerBell (Maltenieks) passed away on February 19th in Marietta, GA at the age of 64. A visitation is scheduled for Thursday, February 23, from 5:00-7:00 at Mayes Ward-Dobbins Funeral Home in historic Marietta. The Reverend Charles Sineath will officiate the service, which will be at Mayes-Ward Dobbins Funeral Home on Friday, February 24 at 2:00 pm, followed by the burial at Cheatham Hill Memorial Park. The family will receive visitors at Stonebridge Church immediately following the burial. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Karin’s life. She is preceded in death by her son, Geoffrey B. WerBell, Jr. Karin is survived by her husband, Geoffrey B. WerBell; daughter, Michelle WerBell Tillis; her brother, Jim Maltenieks and his wife Pat, and her sister Chrissy Maltenieks Wright and her husband Dennis; grandchildren, Kathryn, Elizabeth, Emma Grace, and Reid Tillis; beloved in-laws Carlotta and Donald Dorris, Karen and Lindon Thomas, and Michelle Hudson; and treasured nieces and nephews Bridget Maltenieks Roberts, Alex Maltenieks, Erika Alaoui, Kris Maltenieks, Ashley Smith Dykes, Bryan & Chad Hudson, Mitchell L. WerBell, V, Clay & Cole Thomas, James and Daniel Wright, along with countless other family and friends whom were blessed to have known her. Karin was born on January 22nd, 1953 in Cincinnati, OH to Otto and Alice Maltenieks. She graduated from McEachern High School in 1971 and attended Kennesaw State University. She married Geoffrey, her high school sweetheart, in 1974. They lived in Marietta and Karin began working for Southern Bell in the marketing department, and later as an assistant to Mack Henderson. After the birth of her children, Michelle and Geoffrey, Karin dedicated her time to raising her family. Her daughter remembers her as a loving, wise, and vibrant mother who encouraged her children to pursue their goals and Christian faith. Karin was accomplished at artistic endeavors including painting, cross-stitching, decorating, floral arrangements and loved to make all things beautiful. She was a generous woman who gave so much of herself to her friends, family and community. She was involved in many philanthropic activities for the community. She served as the treasurer of the Marietta Junior League, and during her children’s elementary years, served as a Co-President of the Hickory Hills PTA. She was recognized for her work with the PTA and wrote the model PTA handbook that was adopted by the state of Georgia. Karin loved to support her four grandchildren in all of their school activities, ballet performances, and sporting events. Karin radiated joy and kindness to all of those that knew her. Her relationship with Jesus was steadfast, strong, and sustained her through many trials and tribulations. While we remember her life well lived, we are comforted in knowing that she is with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
