Laurence 'Larry' Allan Ceminsky

Laurence (Larry C) Ceminsky passed on March 18, 2024. He was born March 3, 1944 in Minneapolis, Minnesota to Leonard and Dorothy Ceminsky. He was predeceased by his parents and his sister Lynn Nell Elletson. He is survived by his brother Robert Ceminsky (Jan), his step-son Jeremy Maloney (Lina) his step-daughter Mary Maloney Poston (Martin) both of whom he maintained a familial relationship along with his extended family and special friends. Following high school Larry joined the Minnesota Army National Guard and thereafter commenced a career in the record business which took him from Minneapolis to California, Florida, Missouri, Hawaii and ultimately to Marietta where he decided to take root and left the record business. While making Marietta his permanent home he started several enterprises, namely Marietta Market, Inc., Marietta Market Convenience Store, Marietta Bottle Shop, Thrifty Car Rental, Ryder Truck Rental, Marietta Check Cashing, Larry’s Country Kitchen, Bomber Battery, and Marietta Mower. Larry was heavily involved in his community with the following organizations: Cobb Housing Authority, Center for Family Resources, Friends of Disabled Adults and Children, President of the Marietta Downtown Business Association, Vice President of the Marietta Clean City Commission, Cobb County Victim Witness, the NAACP’s Impact, Madison Forum, Cobb Community Collaborative, Cobb County SPLOST Task Force, Cobb/Paulding Mobility Task Force, and Tell Tale Theatre. He was one of the first volunteers with Mentoring Marietta tutoring at risk youth in the evenings. He was also an active member of Marietta Kiwanis helping raise funds and donating time to the Joe Kirby and Victory park projects. He served as Captain of the Flag Project 9/11 Memorial at Kennesaw Mountain. As his health declined, he contributed by storing the flags in his shop. He was the Outstanding Kiwanian for two years and was member of the year in 2005. Larry was an active member of the Cobb Republican Party, assisting candidate campaigns and forums. He was a graduate of the Coverdell Leadership Institute and had been a member of Mensa since 1972. In lieu of flowers please donate to Mentoring Marietta for Leadership.
