Lillian Catherine Ogburn

Lillian Catherine Ogburn of Marietta, Georgia, entered into Heaven’s gate on Sunday, June 2, 2019 at Tranquility Hospice in Kennestone, Georgia at the age of 90. Lillian was born on November 23, 1928 in Brooklyn, New York to the late George Weston and Thelma (Currey) Weston. Lillian was the 7th child of nine children. She is proceeded in death by her four brothers, George, Ferdinand, Robert, and Harry, four sisters, Bernice, Florence, Thelma, and Frances and her late husband Albert Ogburn. Lillian was educated in the New York City Public School System and graduated from Girls High School in Brooklyn, New York. After graduating from Girls High School, Lillian went on to study at the IBM Business School in New York. She began her career as a key punch operator at Marsh Mercer Kroll where she held several roles. In 1990, Lillian retired from Marsh & McLennan after 30+ years with the company. God and family were the foundations of Lillian’s life. While living in New York, Lillian was a faithful member of Cornerstone Baptist Church, where she served as a Sunday School Teacher for many years. Upon relocating to Marietta, Georgia in 1995 to be closer to her immediate family, Lillian made it very clear her first matter of business was to find a new church home. She wasted no time finding her new church home at Zion Baptist Church in Marietta. Though she was no longer able to attend church on a regular basis, she would still get up early and read her bible along with her Daily Word and Bible Verses. Lillian also enjoyed sewing, knitting, crossword puzzles, playing cards and watching boxing on television. More than anything she loved being a mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She found joy in watching and laughing with her great-granddaughters, Makenzie and Riley. Lillian is survived by her two children, Robert E. Scrubb, Jr and Marie A. (Scrubb) Sellers; 2 grandchildren, Michael Demby, Sr. and Nicole Sellers; 3 great-grandchildren Michael Demby, Jr., Makenzie K. Dixon, and Riley C. Dixon, 3 sister in-laws, Jean Weston, SC, Edna Ogburn, NY and Lydia Ogburn, NC. She is survived by a host of nieces, nephews, loved ones and friends.
